Nuestro Programa

The Community Arts program prepares artists to use their artmaking as a means of civic, youth, and community development, activism, and education.

The program provides you with a thorough grounding in theory and practice, beginning with coursework that highlights the relationship between the artist, art, and community. Real-world experience that integrates independent artmaking with community-based projects provides you with the opportunity to investigate how artists help communities articulate their own unique creative identity, and how these communities, in turn, inspire the students' own creative expression.

Lo Que Dicen Nuestros Estudiantes

  • Emily Chow Bluck image

I went to college feeling disdainful about the lack of true altruism in my community," Bluck said. "My college experiences are what helped me develop a more sophisticated understanding of what it looked like to work with marginalized people, and that I had a role to play in agitating for change."
