Qualified is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women survivors of sex trafficking, domestic violence, and housing instability through comprehensive workforce development training, uniquely incorporating occupational therapy to support the successful transition from training to workplace. Headquartered in the Los Angeles area, we are actively exploring avenues for expansion. At Qualified, we unveil the dormant dreams within each survivor and ignite their occupational purpose. Qualified was founded through the support of local churches and the organization remains deeply rooted in its Christian values. The Opportunity

Qualified is seeking a dynamic and accomplished non-profit professional to assume the pivotal role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the next transformative phase of our organization. As CEO, you will have the exciting opportunity to build upon the strong foundation established by our engaged founder and collaborate closely with another esteemed co-founder. Your overarching goal will be fostering meaningful connections with our current stakeholders, while also forging new partnerships and opportunities to expand Qualified’s influential network.

As the CEO, you will work alongside our dedicated board and staff to cast vision and lay the strategic groundwork for our future impact in empowering women survivors of sex trafficking, domestic violence, housing instability, and other vulnerabilities. Your leadership will be instrumental in solidifying our organizational base, exploring innovative avenues for growth, and ensuring our long-term sustainability. By championing our mission and living our Christian values, you will inspire others to join our cause and contribute to our transformative work.

We are seeking a visionary leader who can navigate complex challenges, drive forward-thinking initiatives, and cultivate a collaborative environment where our team can thrive. This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of the non-profit sector, and a proven track record of successful stakeholder engagement and fund development. The ideal candidate will possess a person-centric and strategic mindset, the ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships, and a passion for advocating on behalf of vulnerable communities.

Measures of Success

The following are priorities for the successful candidate within their first 12 months:

Meeting and engaging existing donor network:

  • Increasing the number of personal meetings with existing donors to build stronger relationships, better understand their philanthropic interests, and maintain their support
  • Ensure a steady retention rate of existing donors

Diversifying funding and increasing individual donor participation:

  • Increase the number of new funding sources by securing contributions from new sources, such as corporate sponsors, foundations, or government grants
  • Increase the percentage of revenue from individual donors
  • Increase the number of individual donors.

Determining the best growth opportunities to impact more individuals:

  • Utilize existing data to assess the organization's impact on the target population to help determine the effectiveness of growth opportunities
  • Determine the most effective expansion approach into new geographic areas or target demographics alongside the board and CINO
  • Develop our social enterprise efforts by assessing and implementing potential growth opportunities for expanded reach and impact

Recruit new board members:

  • From your existing network or through new engagements, add one to two new board members 


Essential Qualifications

Qualified is actively seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dynamic nonprofit leader with a deep passion for our mission of empowering women survivors to achieve their professional aspirations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in collaborating with nonprofit boards and driving fund development. The following qualifications are essential:


  • Visionary Leadership: The candidate should possess exceptional leadership qualities reflective of Christian values, and be skilled in effectively communicating with staff, board members, religious congregations, and local government entities. Their ability to assemble and lead a team, as well as successfully support the launch and management of new programs and initiatives.
  • Nonprofit Management Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of management experience within a nonprofit organization is required. This experience should encompass overseeing various aspects of nonprofit funding, operations, and strategy.
  • Survivor Support Experience: Previous involvement in working with survivors of sex trafficking, domestic violence, and/or housing instability is essential. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the unique challenges faced by these individuals and a compassionate and trauma-informed approach to addressing their needs.
  • Fundraising Expertise: The candidate should possess strong fundraising skills, including a track record of securing major donations, government grants and contracts, foundation grants, and corporate partnerships. Their ability to effectively engage potential donors and cultivate relationships will be crucial for the organization's sustainability and growth.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: A successful track record of forging collaborations and partnerships is highly desired. Experience in establishing productive relationships with religious congregations, nonprofit partners, and government agencies is particularly valuable.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in public relations and group presentations, are essential for effectively conveying the organization's mission and engaging various stakeholders.
  • Openness to Innovation: The ideal candidate should be an independent thinker who is receptive to new ideas and input from others. Their ability to embrace innovation and adapt to evolving circumstances will be crucial for the organization's success.
  • Nonprofit Governance and Board Relationships: The candidate should possess a strong understanding of nonprofit governance principles and be skilled in building and maintaining positive relationships with board members.
  • Financial Management Experience: The candidate should have demonstrated experience in managing nonprofit financial systems, including handling restricted funds, property management, and related balance sheet activities.
