Strategy & Hustle is seeking an Email Fundraising & Advocacy Director to handle a growing portfolio of progressive campaigns and nonprofits with fundraising and advocacy campaigns.

The Email Fundraising & Advocacy Director will work with a great deal of autonomy to take the lead on the email programs for 3-4 advocacy and electoral clients, and manage the day-to-day client relationships with them. The Director will also initially supervise one junior staff member, with the intent to grow the team over time.

Are you an entrepreneurial digital strategist who knows the ins and outs of email campaigning, is passionate about progressive causes and campaigns, and has the ability to quickly draft clean, persuasive and well-messaged copy on tight deadlines? If so, please read on!

Responsibilities

  • Center equity and inclusion in all of your work, including the work environment and culture you help to foster, and the team you build.
  • Work with a portfolio of 3-4 advocacy and electoral clients (and where necessary, the firm principals) to come up with a creative vision and actionable goals, strategies and timelines for their email programs -- and then lead your team to execute those strategies in an adaptable way (i.e. one that accounts for rapid response opportunities or other changing circumstances).
  • Take ultimate responsibility for the quality of work-product produced for your clients and how the work is executed, and for managing the email programs you are leading to ensure they are hitting established benchmarks and goals.
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact with your portfolio of clients and lead meetings with them.
  • Supervise, mentor and ensure the professional development of the junior staff on your team. Ensure they produce high-quality work, and work with them to address any issues or challenges they are facing related to their performance. Assign work, create processes and manage your team to promote healthy work-life balance and minimize the amount of work done outside of typical work hours.
  • Develop compelling email, landing page, and ActBlue content for political and advocacy clients (both writing your own and editing the work of others on the team).
  • Project-manage the content through the production, editing, QA and approval process. While you will be able to delegate much of the production and QA work, you may need to pitch in with all parts of this process on a consistent basis.
  • Analyze metrics and report back to clients on performance, best practices, and test results. Distill any lessons that should be incorporated in our work more broadly, and develop processes to disseminate and implement these lessons.
  • Translate client brand principles and messaging guidance into accompanying content and creative deliverables
  • Constantly test and innovate to ensure we are learning and incorporating best practices in the field
  • Represent firm at conferences and other external events (public health conditions allowing)
  • Other related duties as needed

  • You have an eye for design and at least some ability to use software like Photoshop or Illustrator, meme & GIF generators, and/or apps like Canva.
  • You are plugged into the political/current events news cycle, and knowledgeable about progressive issues
