Role: Campaign Organizer

Location and Timeline: We are hiring organizers for this position beginning January 17, 2021 and continuing through April 9, 2022 . Organizers must be based in Wyoming.

Who We Are: The Outreach Team (TOT) is a political consulting firm specializing in field organizing. We partner with good groups doing great things. Our goal is to consistently raise the overall level of organizing/canvass work across platforms by thinking holistically about our clients, the campaign we are trying to win, and the staff who work on the campaign.

General Overview:

The Campaign Organizer will develop grassroots and grasstops community relationships, recruit and train dozens of community partners committed to defending voting rights restoration, train leaders on the campaign, and show up and be a good ally to partner organizations throughout the process. In January of 2022, the organizer will identify people in need of restoring their voting rights and help them navigate the process of restoration. Finally, the organizer will debrief and re-activate everyone involved in the effort to be prepared to tackle felony disenfranchisement into the future.

What You’ll Do:

  • Recruit and Train Community Partners
  • Identify community organizations to partner with around felony disenfranchisement.
  • Keep meticulous records of community organizations and how they want to be involved, so that no groups wanting to further this issue slip through the cracks.
  • Run trainings to educate community groups on the voting rights restoration process.
  • Represent the campaign through participation in community spaces and events, while engaging and uplifting coalition and partner organizations.
  • Help Community Members Restore Their Voting Rights
  • Identify community members in need of restoring their voting rights due to former felony convictions.
  • Nail 100% of all messaging and legal requirements to assist people with former felony convictions through the process of voting rights restoration.
  • Keep meticulous records of individuals in need of restoration and track where they are in the process.
  • Manage Digital Campaign, Data Management, and Reporting Tools
  • Demonstrate public support by recruiting volunteers to post on their own social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools to communicate with community members
  • Work with a digital campaigner to send timely and compelling email campaigns to recruit activists to campaign activities
  • Track every interaction with detailed notes in order to report numbers daily and write weekly reports on the results of the campaign.

Nice-to-Haves, but Not Required:

  • Experience working for nonprofits, electoral campaigns, and/or other issue campaigns
  • Data Management and Evaluation Experience: Experience working with various data management systems and tools, mainly Google Suite. 
  • Experience with Relevant Campaign Tools and Technologies: Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, eCRMs like EveryAction, or social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Event or Project Planning & Management, Implementation or Evaluation
  • Knowledge or previous experience working on this issue is a plus, but not required

If you were here right now, you would be:

  • Recruiting, training and developing activist leaders to protect and defend Voting Rights Restoration in Arkansas or Wyoming and across the nation now, and after the election. 
  • Engaging and expanding support through public visibility actions, voter outreach, and relationship building
  • Planning and executing efforts to gain support for Voting Rights Restoration including, but not limited to: phonebanking, canvassing, visibility events, educational events, and more. 

Salary, Benefits and Perks:

The salary for this position is $50,000 - $59,000. Salary within this range is determined through an equity calculator. As part of TOT’s commitment to compensation equity and transparency, we have a no negotiation policy. Salary negotiations can introduce bias and perpetuate wage inequality. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement. We offer a generous benefits package, including:
