ActionSprout was founded by Drew Bernard and Shawn Kemp, who have spent years working with entrepreneurs in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors helping develop strategies tools to engage supporters in meaningful and productive ways.

When Facebook launched their new Open Graph functionality in early 2012, Drew and Shawn enlisted George DeCarlo and Tim White to join them to explore if and how Facebook's Open Graph could be utilized to help organizations acquire high quality fans and build productive relationships with those supporters over time.

In September 2012, ActionSprout.com launched with functionality design to help organizations run Social Action Campaigns on Facebook in order to unlock their Facebook Fans with actions that move beyond Like, Share and Comment. The Facebook App gives organizations dozens of social actions to engage supporters with directly on their own Facebook pages. For instance, instead of asking people to click Like on a wall post, they can now ask them to click Recommend, Thank, Sign, Contact, Support or one of a dozen other actions we currently support.
