The Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a Financial Assistance Application Reviewer to assist the social services team in processing emergency financial assistance applications. This position will be responsible for assessing eligibility, ensuring that required documents are provided, and advocating for internal and external grants. The Reviewer will also assist in resource development to aid clients in connecting with community organizations.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The Financial Assistance Application Reviewer will ensure that applicants meet eligibility for the Entertainment Community Fund, and/or partner/community funds. They will review each assigned application to ensure that all required documents are included. They will reach out and respond to applicants in a timely manner by email, phone, or Zoom to request any documents that are not included with applications. The Reviewer will conduct interviews with applicants by Zoom or in person to review application, assess needs, and develop a plan of action. They will screen applicants’ narratives to identity those in need of social work intervention and refer internally for further assessment or externally for community support and/or resources on an as needed basis. The Financial Assistance Application Reviewer will complete the worker portion of applications: compiling earnings, requesting grant amounts and identifying funders, writing narratives to describe applicants’ situations, financial needs, and recommendations. The reviewer will submit completed applications for review and respond to questions and/or requests for additional information. They will enter statistics into client data program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Arts degree
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational skills and the ability to handle diverse tasks in a fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Ability to work independently and ask for support when needed


PREFERRED QUALITIES

  • Familiarity with the entertainment industry

ABOUT THIS POSITION

This is a full-time hourly position based in the Entertainment Community Fund’s National Headquarters Office in Times Square, New York City.
