The Technical Communications Manager will be responsible for producing high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our projects and initiatives. This role involves managing projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they align with our mission and goals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Writing:

  • Documentation: Create, edit, and maintain technical documents including reports, manuals, user guides, and newsletters.
  • Content Development: Develop clear and concise content that communicates complex information in an accessible manner.
  • Collaboration: Work with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy of content.
  • Review and Editing: Proofread and edit documents for grammar, style, and consistency.

Project Management:

  • Planning: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Execution: Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate project activities and resources.
  • Monitoring: Track project progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for project stakeholders. Provide regular updates and reports on project status.
  • Evaluation: Conduct post-project evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to translate metrics. 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical writing and project management, preferably in a non-profit and with social advocacy experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal, writing, proofing, and copy, editing skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, graphic design, and communication management.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Remain abreast of current events and propose content that connects our work to important conversations in the field.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
