Sanctuary for Families is New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 11 locations throughout New York City.
The Adult Counselor will provide ongoing domestic violence comprehensive individual and support group clinical counseling services to non-shelter clients primarily for the African community. Assist clients to move toward managing their trauma, understanding the impact of domestic violence and other forms of gender violence, such as Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) on their lives and that of their children; help them to reach economic stability through case management, advocacy, and referral if necessary, to organizations providing such services. Opportunity to work in a supportive, team oriented environment.
· Licensed Master's Degree in Social Work, preferred
· Ability to provide effective counseling in both English and Spanish Required
· Proficiency in multi-tasking and organizational skills are helpful
· Ability to collaborate with others and engage in teamwork is necessary.
· Familiarity with data entry and other computer programs.
