Position Summary
Rise Up, based at the Public Health Institute, partners with women, girls, and allies who are transforming their communities and countries as part of a global movement for justice and equity. We build power with these local leaders as they work for equity in education, health, and economic opportunity to create a better future for all. Since 2009, Rise Up's powerful network of over 600 leaders have successfully advocated for 120 new and improved laws and policies impacting the lives of 135 million people in Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and the U.S.

Rise Up is at an exciting time of growth and expansion-we have a new strategic plan that will maximize the organization's impact to more effectively support Rise Up Leaders to create large-scale change for gender equity globally, and we received our largest gift ever from MacKenzie Scott. As a member of Rise Up's diverse team, you will have the opportunity to advance ambitious fundraising targets as part of the Development and Communications team and alongside the Executive Director. This new position will report to the Associate Director of Development and External Affairs and play a key role in strengthening Rise Up's institutional giving strategies, communications, and systems.

This is a remote position.

Pay: $59,759 to $72,666 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is $59,759 to $72,666 based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prospect and donor development support (50% time)
  • Conduct research and develop and engage a donor prospect pipeline of potential new foundation and corporate funders.
  • Support efforts to increase Rise Up's visibility in the private sector to attract new corporate sponsors and philanthropic partners, including through events and new communications assets.
  • Formalize corporate engagement opportunities and offerings at Rise Up and develop necessary policies for these partnerships (event sponsorship, cause marketing, in-kind donations, etc.).
  • Support the development of funder pitch decks and proposals.

Development operations (30% time)
  • Manage an annual institutional development calendar.
  • Maintain Rise Up's new Salesforce donor database, including moves management and contact and grant updates.
  • Track and refine program data in Salesforce to utilize for external audiences.

Direct donor engagement & outreach (20% time)
  • Coordinate donor engagement efforts through event and staffing support, including ongoing donor communications.
  • Support the development of reports for funders.
  • Represent Rise Up in key networks and at strategic events as a spokesperson to build relationships that advance Rise Up's fundraising goals.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of institutional development experience.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to travel 5-15% of the time, both domestically and internationally (when it is safe to do so).
  • Bachelor's degree, or substitute with four additional years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep commitment to women's and girls' empowerment globally.
  • Familiarity with major institutional funders.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and excellent project management skills, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to work well in a team and build relationships with people from a diversity of backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM.
  • Outstanding written communication and editing skills.
  • 4 or more years of development experience is preferred.

This position is classified as exempt based on the job duties. However, based on the FTE, salary level of the employee, or federal/state/local laws, the employee may be classified as nonexempt.
