ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Raikes Foundation invests in youth-serving institutions and systems to make them more effective in supporting and empowering all young people, especially those who have been most marginalized. Envisioning a just and inclusive society where all young people have the support they need to achieve their full potential, the Raikes Foundation strives for an educational system that reliably creates learning environments where whole, healthy, empowered educators and students thrive and where race, class, gender, language, or any other social or cultural factors hold zero predictive power on students' experience and outcomes.

Systems-level change doesn't happen without collaboration and deep engagement with the communities the systems serve, and the use of scientific research and data to inform the work allows the organization to proactively seek out the insights and expertise of people with lived experience from the communities served, especially young people. Through redesigning schools and systems, addressing youth homelessness across the country, and helping more donors strategically use their time, talents, and resources to give in ways that advance equity, effectiveness, and systems change, the Raikes Foundation supports and drives efforts to build a more equitable education system.
