East Boston Social Centers is a multi-service agency and community center that cultivates community, belonging, and joy. Founded in 1918 to welcome and support immigrant families, East Boston Social Centers continues to proudly embrace “welcome” in all we do. Our core services range across educational, social, and recreational programs to support the diverse community of East Boston and our neighbors of all ages. For over a century, our programs and services have welcomed neighbors of all ages, interests, and backgrounds through our doors. Each year, we provide direct programming for 3,000+ children, teens, and adults, with an additional 30,000+ people benefiting from our meeting spaces and community events.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Programs oversees and manages all of our programming for Early Learners. Bright Minds. Thriving Teens and Active Adults. Additional responsibilities include conducting community needs assessments, developing new programming initiatives, strengthening cross-program collaboration, and implementing effective program strategy and evaluation across the organization.


Primary Responsibilities

·        Plans, develops, manages, and evaluates all East Boston Social Centers programming, and new programs to ensure high quality and successful outcomes

·        Supports an infrastructure of strong parent and community engagement

·        Leads the Social Centers’ strategic plan implementation for programming

·        Brings a JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging) lens to all programmatic work and staffing

·        Supports program curriculum development

·        Ensures compliance with all relevant state, city, and grant requirements

·        Ensures programs meet expectations for related grant administrative requirements by ensuring all required reports are completed on time and to a high-quality standard

·        Leads organization wide effort to implement high quality program evaluation tools, techniques, and software

·        Develops and manages client recruitment and enrollment strategies

·        Collaborates closely with other social service agencies, schools, and community partners to maximize program impact

·        Conducts community needs assessments to grow and develop existing programs, support new programming, and better coordinate community activities. This includes examination of English Learnings Language (ELL) programming which had been offered pre-pandemic

·        Improves coordination between all the Social Centers’ programs and communication across programs including helpful programmatic roles to work across programs

·        Determines opportunities to most effectively integrate program volunteers to enhance outcomes

·        Conducts research on strategic opportunities for program and organizational growth through new initiatives, mergers, and partnerships for growth

·        Actively participates on the Leadership team and attends regularly scheduled meetings 

·        Supervises, schedules, trains, and evaluates all program staff as assigned. Hires additional staff as needed

·        Completes and is held accountable for program budgets as assigned which includes maintaining expenditures within the established budget guidelines. Completes all budget reports, projections, statistics, and drafts in a timely fashion

 

Qualifications

·        Child and/or family program experience required

·        Experience leading programs in the context of complex state and local regulations

·        Strong organization skills, an ability to meet deadlines and work interdependently

·        A positive attitude and enthusiasm for the job

·        Ability to have influence in complex community work

·        Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse multi-stakeholder group—ensuring inclusion and belonging for people from diverse cultural, economic, and professional backgrounds

·        Collaborative outreach and experience in local communities is a plus

·        Knowledge and expertise related to early childhood a plus 

·        Familiarity with youth development principles across multiple age groups

·        Excellent communication and organizational skills 

·        Experience with data analysis and reporting, and using data to guide decision making 

·        Experience managing direct reports and/or consultants toward a shared outcome 

·        Ability to adapt to achieve desired outcomes 

·        Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred

·        Must clear Department of Early Education and Care’s Background Record Checks (i.e., CORI, DCF, etc.)

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree preferred) and seven plus years’ demonstrated management experience in a government or community-based organization setting or equivalent combination of education and experience 

 

Compensation and Benefits

Target hiring range is $90,000 to $108,000. We offer comprehensive benefits including health and

dental insurance, 403b retirement plan, 12 paid holidays, PTO (vacation, sick and personal days),

Life/Short/long-term disability, childcare assistance, and more. The Social Centers has a family
