We are currently in search of a Director of Donor Relations for the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE)The position is based in Washington, DC. This is a Permanent, Full-Time position.

The Donor Relations Director position is an exciting opportunity to join the collective efforts to grow and expand the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) during a time of organizational growth and expansion. The Development Department at CURE raises nearly $3M annually and has the ambitious goal of doubling these fundraising results over the next 3-5 years. CURE is seeking a creative and accomplished Donor Relations Director who will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s revenue strategy, maintaining current relationships, and diversifying revenue streams, ensuring CURE has the necessary resources to fulfill its mission.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working with the President, the Donor Relations Director will be a key member of the organization’s development team. The focus of this position is to manage all development and engagement activities associated with the prospecting, cultivating, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. We are seeking a task-minded fundraiser that focuses on exceeding goals, growing revenue, and aligning with the overall vision of CURE.

Our Ideal Candidate:

·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

·       4-8 years of fundraising and donor cultivation experience with proven results.

·       Experience developing and executing direct mail and email marketing campaigns.

·       The ability and/or proven evidence of the ability to:

o  Communicate at an advanced level, oral and written

o  Exhibit strong phone skills (warm tone, good speaking cadence, clear and articulate speech)

o  Participate in a teamwork-driven environment

o  Demonstrate proficiency in building and retaining relationships

o  Exhibit effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate tact, patience, and courtesy

o  Possess in-depth knowledge about donor databases and CRMs (experience with Virtuous preferred)

o  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other tools

o  Manage time and task completion effectively

o  Handle tasks independently

o  Thrives managing up and maintains clear communication with CURE’s leadership and team members

How You Will Spend Your Day: 

·       Cultivates donor relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking mid-level donors to deepen their financial partnership with CURE.

·       Solicits and closes gifts from mid-level donors.

·       Face-to-face visits to select donors for cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship efforts.

·       Executes fundraising strategy through phone, email, and mail communication with annual donors in general, and particularly with mid-level donors.

·       Updates the database with call notes and new information about donors.

·       Learns about CURE campaigns/programs/projects and effectively communicates the mission to donors.

·       Develops written materials, outreach strategies, and campaign elements for outreach to donors, coordinating as needed with other departments and the marketing/digital team for creative inputs, data, or other elements.

·       Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner to donors.

·       Researches, identifies, and promotes handoff to the President of high-capacity donors after they increase their giving.

·       Assists the President with reporting and management of a portfolio of major donors.

·       Prospects, researches, and writes grants to secure new foundation support, while maintaining a database and calendar of current foundation deadlines. Manages the relationship with foundation representatives.

·       Manages a Development Data Manager to ensure the quality of the data in CURE’s CRM and the frequency and type of reports necessary to evaluate the organization’s fundraising strategy.

·       Manages a Fulfilment Manager to ensure campaigns, acknowledgment letters and premiums are mailed promptly.
