COMPANY OVERVIEW

Since our founding in 2003, Tapestry Networks has helped the leaders of some of the world’s most important institutions carry out their difficult work more effectively. We do this by working with clients to create and lead bespoke networks, working groups, and research projects that create forums for board and executive leaders, regulators, investors, and other experts to share insights, engage in collective problem-solving, and pilot new approaches.  We synthesize the themes and practices emerging from these discussions for clients and participants, and in published thought leadership.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an Associate/Senior Associate to join our financial services team. This team works with board directors and senior executives of many of the largest financial institutions in the world, leading fintechs, regulators, investors, and other subject matter experts. We regularly interface with global leaders on some of the most important issues in financial institution board rooms, including top and emerging risks like cybersecurity, geopolitical, and market risks; strategic challenges like business model changes and technology transformation; ESG, climate transition, and approaches to social issues; and governance, regulation, and supervision of financial institutions.

Associates play a vital role in the success of our business. They support the identification of participants and issues for discussion in our networks and projects, conduct research, develop content including leading the writing process for our thought leadership, and help manage the day-to-day operations of our networks and other initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of and exposure to financial services and issues confronting senior industry leaders. He or she need not be an expert, but should be able to understand and communicate about issues relevant to financial institution board and executive leaders. He or she should also be an excellent writer and possess strong research and project management abilities. We are a remote team and are excited to welcome a new member who enjoys thoughtful collaboration with a small team as well as working and writing independently. The role does involve some travel, including internationally.

Key Responsibilities
Research and thought leadership
  • Conduct primary and secondary research on individuals, companies, and issues central to financial services leaders.
  • Join calls and meetings with directors, regulators, and executives taking detailed and well-organized notes.
  • Understand and articulate key points, themes and implications from research, interviews, and meetings.
  • Write and edit content drawing heavily on discussions with senior leaders, client documents, and other published thought-leadership.
  • Support efforts to amplify work via social media.
Client and participant relationship support
  • Participate in network status and strategy meetings, internally and with clients.
  • Attend network meetings and events (some travel required).
  • Support business development through research and development of marketing materials and proposals.
  • Maintain relationship databases and look for ways to better leverage data and connections.
Project management
  • Anticipate and plan for requirements of meetings, execute tasks in a timely manner, and know when to ask for help.
  • Assist in the management of content production schedules, network activity timelines, and larger projects and assignments as needed.
  • Collaborate with other staff, working closely with the Project and Event Manager, Principals, and Partners on the team.
  • Lead projects to help the financial services team execute more effectively and represent the team on company initiatives.

Knowledge and skills

Competencies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex concepts and insights in a clear manner (applicants must provide a writing sample)
  • Ability to independently research and analyze issues and identify and recommend credible experts in an issue area
  • High standards for work products, accuracy, attention to detail, and timely follow-through
  • Ability to interact with board-level and C-level executives with confidence
  • Demonstrated track record of multi-tasking, organizing, and prioritizing workload effectively across multiple projects/workstreams and under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound judgements
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious, ability to learn quickly, and able to work without detailed supervision
  • Open to feedback and learning; open to providing feedback and teaching others
  • Ethical, confident, and positive attitude
Background and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, public policy or other relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience, either in a professional services firm, financial services firm, policy role, or an institutional setting providing exposure to senior leaders.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

You will have the opportunity to regularly interact with and learn from global business leaders, boards of directors, and regulators on issues that are frequently “headline news.” Enjoy the flexibility and convenience of a fully remote company coupled with the benefits of occasional in-person collaboration and meetings, including regular travel to financial centers like New York and London.
