The UVU Center for Social Impact drives social impact by connecting students and community. Our work focuses on the social impact pathways of Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy. Our work designs programs, initiatives, and collaborations that move students from pathway entry points to more substantial community learning experiences.

The Advocacy and Resources Assistant Coordinator will be fundamental in the development of new, sustainable nutrition projects that improve availability and access for needs insecure students. They will be a crucial member of the Coordinated Access to Resources and Education (CARE) Team, helping to award the Emergency Fund scholarship, manage the transitional housing program, and connecting students to on- and off-campus resources. This position will also help to start our first campus garden! Students who utilize these programs will be more likely to succeed in school and complete their degrees in a timely manner, leading them to be more resilient and financially stable as they enter the workforce. This position requires tenacity, energy, and a commitment to social impact and civic engagement work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of and commitment to nutrition projects.

• Knowledge of basic needs project development and best practices. 

• Project and program management skills including development, implementation, management, and evaluation

• Community resource management

• Community development and negotiation skills

• Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and sustain relationships with community agencies, students, staff and faculty.

• Ability to communicate exceptionally and effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment as a team player.

• Basic proficiency with desktop computing and use of the Web for information gathering and program administration.

• Ability to travel in a group and independently

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree and one or more years of experience in higher education, basic needs resource development, nonprofit work, community development, nutrition programming, or related field.

Physical Requirements

Office environment with sitting and walking frequently and talking, hearing, seeing along with fine hand manipulation for computer work.
