Position Description:

The Deputy Program Director, using leadership and problem-solving skills, assists the Chief Program Officer with the daily operations of the California Volunteers Program Department. The Deputy Program Director will liaise with the Service Director and all Program Directors to determine and prioritize program strategies.  The Deputy will also oversee the collection and reporting of data for the Executive Dashboard and other key reports. The Deputy will also oversee the Digital Liaison and Evaluation Specialist. The Deputy Program Director must have a commitment to serving California’s diverse communities throughout the administration of the program and must create a work environment that celebrates diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences.

Duties:

40%     Program Strategy Development and Coordination

·        Coordinate with Program Department Leads throughout development of new initiatives and strategies.

·        Identify and troubleshoot challenges in program design and implementation.

·        Oversee data collection and reporting.

·        Serve as the Point of Contact to the Chief Program Officer. 

·        Lead Project Management for Program Department.

35%     Manage Program Digital Liaison and Evaluation Functions

·        Directly supervise the Digital Liaison and Evaluation Specialist.

·        Set program metrics, data collection and reporting processes.

·        Oversee the digital infrastructure requirements for all programs and initiatives.

20% Lead Program Standardization

·        Work with program team to set standard program practices.

·        Assist in developing standard templates and tools for full program cycle.

·        Support program team in use of standardized processes and tools. 

5%        Other Duties as Assigned

·        Support Program Directors with various projects

·        Occasionally attend meetings in lieu of Chief Program Officer


Qualifications:

-         Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience in the volunteer management field.

-         Five years managerial experience.

-         Strong written and oral communications skills.

-         Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, particularly those that are high-profile and time sensitive.

-         Excellent working knowledge of the volunteer field, best practices, and key partners.

-         Experience developing and maintaining complex partnerships.

-         Strong computer skills.

-         Ability to travel occasionally and work an irregular and sometimes demanding schedule.

-         Proven commitment to creating a work environment that celebrates diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences.
