MSW CASE MANAGER/INTERN SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION

The CLC Northern California CARE Team will provide a collaborative and intensive model of legal representation and service delivery to some of CLC’s most high need clients, including youth involved in the juvenile justice system, those with high-end mental health needs, and those who have been sexually trafficked. Accordingly, the successful applicant will regularly consult with a wide array of professionals both within the firm and with system partners and service providers in the Sacramento and Placer area. The supervisor will routinely be called upon to consult with and support all CLCNC staff. 

Program staff will work directly with young and emerging adult clients in and outside of the courtroom, and collaborate with a cross sector of child welfare, mental health and health services, educational, housing, workforce and other community and county agencies working with TAY ensure youth have access to necessary resources and services to prepare for life after foster care. 

The position of MSW Case Manager/Intern Supervisor encompasses two main performance areas: support and supervision of the program staff which will include CARE Case Managers, CSEC Case Managers, Peer Advocates and MSW Interns; active support of and collaboration with the CLC Resource Attorney, Managing Attorney, and the other firm supervisors. 

SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION OF PROGRAM STAFF

In this performance area, the MSW Case Manager/Intern Supervisor will perform some or all of the following tasks: 

Provide comprehensive multidisciplinary legal services to CSEC, cross-over and Alta Regional Center youth 

1. Supervise and assist program staff in all areas of their job including, but not limited to: 
2. Case supervision and management
3. Track client referrals
4. Assign and distribute cases to program staff
5. Oversee workload and quality of work for program staff, i.e. review of reports, check daily logs, work schedules, etc.
6. Assignment of court coverage
7. Review and approve mileage reimbursement and other expense reimbursement requests
8. Assist and advise program staff with questions or problems
9. Provide caseload, client meeting, and courtroom coverage for absent program staff and/or uncovered caseloads as appropriate or when necessary to support program staff in their job performance.
10. Use JCATS case management system and MTS program to ensure accurate case tracking and distribution of AR requests and reports
11. Implement policy and practices regarding CSEC and cross-over clientele among program staff 
12. Exercise good problem-solving skills and the ability to mediate conflicts in a constructive manner. 
13. Provide clinical supervision and coaching to MSW graduate interns charged with delivering intensive case management services to CARE clients over the course of an academic year long internship. A commitment to the values and ethics of the social work profession via the following:
14. Weekly on-site clinical supervision and guidance of MSW students at field placement, both one-hour individual and two-hour group sessions
15. Maintain timely clinical supervision and review case notes
16. Document all consultation and case activity in the case management system
17. Coordinate site visits with students and respective field liaisons
18. Attend field instructor training
19. Regularly evaluate student work, complete student evaluations and participate in student disciplinary meetings as needed
20. Ensure interns understand the role and impact of culture, race, diversity, family values, sexual and gender identification, religion and spirituality in delivery of services to our clients

COLLABORATION AND COOPERATION WITH THE CLCNC ATTORNEY SUPERVISOR, MANAGING ATTORNEY, MANAGEMENT TEAM, AND REGIONAL DIRECTOR

In this performance area, the MSW Case Manager/Intern Supervisor will perform some or all of the following tasks: 

1. Ensure excellent communication between and among all CLC staff to ensure collaborative and high quality legal, resource and supportive services to all CLCNC clients
2. Conduct trainings as needed to CLCNC staff, interns, hearing officers, community partners and others locally and throughout the state to provide continuing education regarding best practice and relevant policies and procedures.
3. Participate in local and statewide policy discussions, system improvement meetings, and implementation efforts on CSEC, Cross-over, Regional Center, and related topics
4. Develop “best practices” guidelines for attorneys, resource support staff, social workers, and other system partners to address law and policy
5. Participate and collaborate with community partners on events and activities focused on assisting CLCNC clients
6. Collaborate with the CLC grants manager and the Northern California Regional Director to meet deliverables on grants, produce grant reports, and execute materials as necessary
7. Participate in Management Meetings
8. Participate in internal CLC committees and represent CLC on external committees as appropriate
9. Respond, as necessary and appropriate, to formal and informal concerns, complaints and comments concerning staff performance
10. Participate in program staff interviews for employment and promotion and make recommendations concerning those positions
11. Review and approve time-off requests, mileage entries, and expense reimbursements
12. Provide feedback to other supervisors on staff, interns, and volunteer performance as appropriate
13. Promote CLC’s positive image and presence in the community, to philanthropy and at statewide and national convenings
14.  Perform additional duties as requested by the Managing Attorney or Regional Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

MSW degree from an accredited school of social work, at least two years of post-master's social work experience, and complete University required field instructor certification. Prior supervisory, training or management experience is a plus,

Experience working with and knowledge of issues related to CSEC, cross-over and Regional Center population desired

Excellent interpersonal skills to attract, retain and motivate staff as well as to communicate effectively with attorneys, staff, and other professionals, caretakers, and parties to dependency actions

The successful candidate will possess the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct in order to maintain effective professional and cordial relationships with CLC program staff, attorneys, management team, and other participants in the dependency court process. The MSW Case Manager/Intern Supervisor must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with attorneys, staff, members of the management team, clients, and the public. 

The successful candidate will also have the ability to integrate clinical social work practice concepts with CARE advocacy protocols, knowledge of the juvenile justice system and experience with vulnerable adolescent populations, the ability to work with the education department to design, organize, and implement clinical social work content, learning opportunities, and teaching interventions, the ability to work with diverse student cohorts from a range of backgrounds, orientations, experiences and interests, the ability to conceptualize theory and evidence-based practices, knowledge of client communities and its resources, and knowledge and implementation of agency and community partnership resources. 

Must be able to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination plus booster status.
