Position Summary:

The Policy Associate, State Issues is responsible for monitoring and analyzing state-level policy developments related to SRHR, representing the Institute in coalition spaces, coordinating the publication of written materials and contributing to policy-related research and communications activities aligned with the division’s vision for strategic impact, collaboration and equity as it applies to state policy work.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·      Track and analyze state legislation, regulation and litigation related to SRHR.

·      Create and maintain accurate, complete and updated databases of ongoing policy developments as well as existing laws and policies.

·      Coordinate the publication of monthly, quarterly and annual assessments of state policy issues, including State Laws and Policies and other resources.

·      Collaborate with staff across the Institute to bring a policy perspective and support for a range of our communications and research activities.

·      Assists with time sensitive external requests for information.

  • Provide research assistance for policy analysis projects and maintain resources.

·      Develop written materials in a range of formats and for a range of audiences.

·      Represent the Institute in advocacy coalitions and initiatives.

  • Perform other job-related tasks as appropriate.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

·      A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in the fields of SRHR, immigrant rights, human rights or public health.

·      Understanding of U.S. policy and the policy-making process.

·      Experience with Access and Lexis-Nexis databases preferred.

·      Ability to synthesize and analyze information and communicate effectively.

·      Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive manner and pay close attention to detail.

·      Ability to foster an inclusive workplace, where all staff feel respected, heard, engaged and valued.

·      Compelling and thoughtful communication style that meets the needs of internal and external audiences and engenders trust and collaboration.

Salary starting at $60,000 to upper $60k and will be commensurate with experience.
