Job Title: Clinical Counselor

Program: Mental Health Program

Type of Employee: Full-Time (Exempt)

Supervisor: Clinical Director

Hours: Minimum of 40 hours per week

Job Summary:

Provision of direct therapeutic mental health services, assessments, treatment planning and play

therapy as part of a therapeutic services team of licensed professionals. Therapy is conducted on

a weekly basis for individuals, couples, groups and/or families. Crisis intervention and provision

of emergency services as needed. Determination of appropriate therapeutic approaches and/or

referrals of clients suffering from anxiety, depression, complex trauma and/or PTSD.

Participation in the delivery of professional training sessions and workshops as needed for the

clinical internship program or as outreach in the community.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 Provide an array of outpatient mental health services to promote individualized client


 Conduct intakes, individual, group, and family therapy.

 Provide art and play therapy for children.

 Diagnose mental and emotional disorders.

 Develop treatment plans that may include counseling, medication, or other services.

 Develop service plans and conduct reviews as needed throughout the duration of


 Provide mental health assessments, screenings, counseling, referrals, and intervention


 Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner and according to

Federal, State and Center guidelines.

 Write reports for court, school, or other community agencies as necessary.

 Refer clients to resources like psychiatrists, treatment facilities, or community services

when appropriate depending on their level of care.

 Follow up with psychiatrists and/or attending physicians in cases involving hospital


 Collaborate and maintain good working relationships with external psychiatric care

providers as well as representatives from civic assistance programs.

 Conduct outreach and education to appropriate communities.

 Assist in the development of resources for immigrant victims of crime.

 Provide interpretation and translation as needed.

 Maintain updated knowledge on domestic violence, human trafficking, and immigration

issues, multicultural and trauma-focused practice

 Maintain updated knowledge on ethical practice, CEU’s as needed for license


 Provide weekly and monthly reports in a timely manner.

 Participate in weekly staff meetings, group supervision, intern supervision, and trainings.

 Assist with the Student Internship program.

 Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Job Skills and Qualifications:


 Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree in psychology, clinical mental health

counseling, marriage &, family therapy, Social Work or a related mental health field,

from a school accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related

Educational Programs.

 Hold a license to perform in-state by the National Board for Certified Counselors,

 Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards, and/or the National

Association of Social Workers (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LPC-I, LMFT, RPT).

 Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills

 Ability to work independently and cooperatively with Counseling department staff and

other Mosaic staff members.

 Dependable, good work habits, strong people and communication skills.

 Comfortable treating both routine and serious mental health illnesses.


 Experience in working with refugees, immigrants, and victims of family violence.

 Ability to make professional evaluations, decisions, and recommendations for treatment

planning and implementation.

 Strong computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and


 Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

 Compassionate and caring towards all patients.

 Excellent time management skills; organized and able to prioritize.

 Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple clients.

 Able to organize and manage large amounts of files, schedules, dates, and information.

 Able to work some evenings and/or weekends.
