Position: Director of Finance and Administration

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary Range and Benefits: Compensation for this position is commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience, within the range of $65,000 - $80,000. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance with generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave policies.

Oregon Rural Action (ORA) is a grassroots, culturally diverse, and community-led organization in Eastern Oregon working to promote social justice, agricultural and economic sustainability, and the stewardship of the region’s land, air, and water. Through community organizing, public conversations, and policy advocacy, ORA is building a rural movement for the well-being of all people and our environment.

Organizational leadership

As Director of Finance and Administration, you will contribute to the organization’s success by effectively leading and managing all financial operations. This includes overseeing and managing daily accounting systems; overseeing payroll, and benefits administration; producing accurate and timely financial reports; leading the annual budgeting process; establishing and maintaining internal controls to ensure the appropriate securing, use, and reporting of funds; coordinating and preparing information for reporting including and IRS 990 and an audit process; providing nonprofit financial literacy and strategic leadership as a liaison to the board. 

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and/or administration; 
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting and finance including work within the nonprofit sector;
• A CPA certification; 
• Knowledge of GAAP and Financial Accounting principles; 
• Proficiency with account software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing systems; 
• Familiarity and experience with QuickBooks Online; 
• Working knowledge of restricted and unrestricted funds management; 
• Strong verbal and communication skills; 
• An ability to prioritize and attention to detail. 
• Work with Google Drive and other Google software.
