    Location: Remote, Hybrid, or On-Site (Wichita, KS)

    Travel: Up to 25%

    Summary

    Trust Women is a non-profit organization seeking a Vice President (VP) of Development to provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination of all fund development efforts. The VP of Development will plan and implement a multi-faceted fund development program to provide for the short- and long-term needs of the organization. The VP of Development will partner with Executive Leadership to pursue fundraising strategies that increase the organization’s support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. This is a critical role that requires a dynamic leader ready to take advantage of opportunities and position Trust Women to reach more people and garner increasing support year over year. The VP of Development plays a lead role in fostering a culture of philanthropy by implementing systems, processes, and procedures that support Trust Women’s mission and revenue goals.

    Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities include:

    • Develop and implement, in conjunction with Executive Director, short- and long-term fund development plan.
    • Identify and cultivate new sources of restricted and unrestricted funding, focusing on growing the fundraising budget over the next five years.
    • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current contributors.
    • Provide ongoing analysis of the fundraising plan for evaluation and shift priorities when appropriate,
    • Oversee the development and implementation of a Capital Campaign to raise money for a new Trust Women clinic in Wichita.
    • Supervise and oversee the work of department staff.
    • Oversee maintenance of the fundraising database and recordsfor contributors and grants, and work with other departments to maintain financial records.  
    • Represent Trust Women’s interests on the ground, building connections with key stakeholders in conjunction with the leadership team.
    • Build strategic capacity within the development department, so Trust Women can expand access to abortion care where needed most.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Board members, including regularly scheduled phone or in-person meetings.
    • Work with the Executive Director to organize train, motivate, and lead Board members to recognize and carry out fundraising responsibilities. 
    • Report on development activities to supporters, board, executive leadership, colleagues, and staff.
    • Oversee the writing of proposals and reports in conjunction with other staff to target foundations and donors.
    • Develop and write fundraising mail, in conjunction with colleagues and consultant(s), both resolicit and prospecting, according to the development and fundraising plan.
    • Establish and coordinate events around the country. Work with other departments to identify hosts, guests, and vendors for support.
    • Work to expand and diversify donors and support base.
    • Serve as an effective spokesperson for TW, representing appropriately the vision, mission and values of the organization in all fundraising communications.
    • Oversee the maintenance of official records and documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degreerequired.
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience and proficiency in all aspects of development, with significant individual and foundation fundraising experience.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years managing and leading direct reports, including interviews, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and employee development.
    • Capital campaign experience preferred.

    • Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals.
    • Superior ability to communicate clearly and professionally while representing Trust Women (in person and written) with diverse stakeholders. Strong communication skills including writing and speaking eloquently and persuasively about the organization and its causes.
    • Demonstrated abilityto think strategically and understanding of strategic development.
    • Ability to manage and prioritize concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
    • Strong partnership-building skills.
    • Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base.
    • Unequivocal supportof reproductive justice and rights (committed to the mission, vision and values of Trust Women).
    • Culturally responsive and committed to diversity and inclusion.

    Good computerskills and knowledge of database programs - knowledge of EveryAction (contributor relationship management database) desirable.

    Adept at using technology and working remotely with colleagues to facilitate daily work. 

    • Ability to travel up to 25percent.
