About All Saints Literacy Center

All Saints Literacy Center enables adult learners to meet the challenges of today by improving their reading, writing, math and English speaking skills. Qualified tutors provide an individualized learning plan tailored to the goals and objectives of the learner in a welcoming environment. 

Position Summary 

We are looking for a part-time Digital Literacy Instructor to join our team on-site near I-96 and Vernor. The Digital Literacy Instructor will be responsible for planning and implementing lessons for a new Digital Literacy Program. The program is aimed at teaching basic digital literacy skills to adults. Duties include delivering group instruction, providing one-on-one support, and promoting participant goal accomplishments.

This is a grant-funded hourly position from July 1,  2024 to June 30, 2025, with the possibility of an extension. The schedule for this position is flexible (16 hours per week).

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Northstar Digital Literacy and other curriculum resources
  • Administer pre- and post-assessments and report them to All Saints Literacy Center
  • Create lesson plans that integrate competencies, goals, and objectives
  • Work with the Director and Program Manager to ensure grant-funded initiatives are being met
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Prepare and distribute required reports
  • Observe and evaluate learner performance
  • Manage hardware, ensuring the computers and tablets are charged, clean, and software is updated
  • Accurately update and maintain records, both electronically and on paper 
  • Maintain attendance records for technology use and share this information with other staff members
  • Utilize Google Apps to teach learners how to create documents and work with Google Drive
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint and computer support maintenance
  • Schedule learning sessions using a shared Google Calendar 
  • Prepare learning spaces for students and tutors
  • Monitor student achievement, track progress, create/print certificates for learners
  • Research and evaluate software applications and make recommendations on new software programs
  • Integrate software and apps with the textbook and/or learning resource(s) the student uses in the tutoring program
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technology issues and interact with the software suppliers
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct workshops on technology use for programs
  • Work with a learning management system (LMS) adding content and managing the LMS to increase student participation
  • Use data, records and feedback from students and tutors to create reports
  • Increase student engagement and participation in the Digital Learning Program 

Requirements 

  • Previous experience as a Digital Literacy instructor or similar role preferred
  • Agreement to become certified in the Northstar Digital Literacy program
  • Great organizational, oral, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle classroom
  • Ability to deliver education materials to diverse students in a classroom setting and individual instruction.
  • Degree in Education, Curriculum design or related field preferred
  • Experience working for a Community-Based Organization preferred
  • Teaching experience

Salary

$23 per hour
