The National Asian Pacific American Families Against Substance Abuse (NAPAFASA) is the country’s sole national nonprofit focused on behavioral health issues and related needs of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. We strive to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities through research, community engagement, community empowerment, and advocacy. Currently, we are undertaking a project to provide community outreach and education on the negative impacts of secondhand smoke and the importance of policies that help protect residents from secondhand smoke in public outdoor areas.
Under the supervision of the Programs Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator’s primary roles involve facilitating and implementing campaign activities related to smoke-free outdoor areas policies in two Los Angeles County cities within the San Gabriel Valley. This position is funded through a grant from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Tobacco Control and Prevention Program (TCPP).
