ABOUT COLORADO CIVIC ENGAGEMENT ROUNDTABLE (CCER)

As an organization working to build a movement of civic engagement in Colorado, CCER’s mission is to act as a national model for grassroots civic engagement where every individual has what they need to thrive and actively participate in our democracy. CCER’s vision is to create a culture of collaboration by increasing the capacity of Network Partners to advance a movement grounded in equity, power building and social justice.

THE OPPORTUNITY

CCER seeks a passionate, collaborative, and innovative professional Director of Data and Strategy that will join the organization during an exciting time of transformation. This person will provide data-driven recommendations to inform collective planning, targeting, and opportunities to strengthen data integrity for a table of 501C3 Network Partners. They will be part of a team that works to advance civic participation of targeted populations in our democracy.

This person will operate with a sophisticated racial equity analysis lens and commitment to lifting up the voices of overlooked communities. Because our target communities and colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds, applicants need to be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, race, equity, and inclusion, and bring a deep dedication to advancing these values. They will also need to bring a strong commitment to excellence and true collaboration, an ability to work independently, and an appreciation for patience. Additionally, this position has work situations that involve having a high degree of discretion.

Job Responsibilities

The Director of Data and Strategy reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the following:

Data 

  • SmartVAN Administration: Assist Network Partners with using the SmartVAN and other technological tools to support, enhance, and execute field and organizing programs. This includes innovation and creativity to ensure that best practices are used for program execution. This includes but is not limited to managing user and security settings, training users, and providing technical assistance.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of SmartVAN or a similar database, management of multiple data pipelines and integration of various data sources, including a strong foundation of technical platforms that can include BigQuery and other SQL variant, reporting (Periscope, Tableau), excel, census datasets and google cloud platform
  • Seek out and be knowledgeable about new tech tools to enhance programs and data collection strategies for Network Partners
  • Create reports that illustrate the Network’s collective efforts, help with program evaluation, and inform strategy. Aid in program and campaign management and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with national partner data staff and thought leaders in the field to raise the bar of our data work and to identify and implement experiments and tests

Technological Tools 

  • Identify and offer technological solutions for gaps in campaign tools
  • Make recommendations and provide innovative and strategic methods to Network Partners in order to make their data operations more efficient and effective
  • Consult with Network Partners to develop and integrate data guidelines and structures throughout programs to ensure best practices and data integrity
  • Work with the Director of Partnerships and Engagement to provide state-of-the-art field campaign tools and innovative strategies for Network Partners

Network Partner Engagement

  • Strong commitment to deep collaboration with diverse communities
  • Participate in building a movement of civic engagement with a non-partisan 501(c)(3) network of partners
  • Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with Network Partners
  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
  • Help develop strategies that center and grow the voice and power of overlooked communities in Colorado
  • Thoughtful ability to navigate issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a deep commitment to advancing these values.
  • Develop deep and collaborative partnerships with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) led organizations
  • Cultivate and integrate equity and inclusive values among Network Partners to help them incorporate the practices into their work

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience and Technical Skills: At least five years’ experience serving in data and targeting in advocacy, electoral and/or issue organizing campaigns, or field campaign work. This may include experience with and knowledge of data management, database administration, reporting and analysis, and/or digital organizing tools and at least three years in a data role is preferred.
  • Data Management: Knowledge of data management, database administration, reporting, and analysis. Familiarity with voter files and organizing tools and data quality control preferred
  • Communication Prowess: Ability to communicate complicated data and analytics reports, systems, and processes to non-technical audiences, including communicating nonpartisan civic engagement best practices to a cross section of stakeholders including those with less data and targeting expertise.
  • Training Skills: Ability to develop data and technology focused trainings for people with diverse opinions, interests, and skill levels
  • Project Management: Strong sense of organization and project management with a proven ability to prioritize and deliver on deadlines while remaining calm under pressure
  • Self-Directed: Ability to work autonomously as well as in deep collaboration in a remote environment. Aptitude for taking initiative to accomplish personal and organizational goals. Demonstrated ability to be flexible with changing priorities, rapid response situations, and communicate clearly about needs.
  • Mind Set: Maintain an innovative and solutions-oriented attitude in all situations, especially during rapid growth and change
  • Racial Equity Lens: A commitment to an equity-based and inclusive work culture
  • People Centered Power: Understanding of people centered power and the ability to work with diverse populations by building and maintaining relationships

Preferred

  • Experience managing relationships with key stakeholders and technological vendors
  • Experience developing field plans
  • Organizing or campaign field experience
  • Knowledge of the Colorado election system and landscape
  • Experience building collaborative relationships of trust with BIPOC communities
  • Spanish speaker + $1,500 annually
  • Based in Colorado

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

Working remotely for an organization based in the Denver area (Colorado based candidates preferred)

Schedule: 9-5 pm MT
