NYC GOTV Project Consultant (Part-Time, Remote)

New York Civic Engagement Table (NYCET) builds power with communities of color, immigrants, poor and working people to tackle racial and economic inequality in New York. NYC GOTV PROJECT BACKGROUND

NYCET is searching for a project consultant to support a NYC-based GOTV project. The consultant will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a shared voter mobilization program with a cohort of 10-12 non-profit organizations. The ideal candidate has experience working with organizations in coalition, coordinating voter contact campaigns, facilitation, training, political and/or community organizing, digital outreach, and with tools for outreach. The consultant will work in partnership with our Capacity and Data Department and the project will be overseen by the Executive Director. This is a project based consultant role at approximately 20 hours per week. Start date is immediate and will conclude on December 16, 2022. 

The consultant must be based in NYC. In addition, while the role is primarily remote, the consultant must be willing to travel and conduct in-person meetings when appropriate based on public health guidance.  

Project Goals: 

1. Coordinated voter engagement campaign implemented by a cohort of 11 non-profit organizations in New York City. 
2. Measurable positive impact on voter turnout among the voters engaged by the cohort in the 2022 midterm elections. 
3. At the conclusion of the program increased capacity to conduct civic engagement programming for participating organizations in the long term. 

Scope of Work:

• Facilitate 4-5 cohort meetings for GoVote partner organizations and develop a comprehensive work plan for 2022 voter mobilization. 
• Establish shared metrics and practices for evaluating the efficacy of the program.
• Provide support and training facilitation to cohort members for: 
• Data onboarding: Assessment of data skills and needs for partners joining the Table
• Tools onboarding: Training on use of Spoke, ThruTalk, VAN (MyVoters and MyCampaign), and miniVAN
• Field training: Voter registration & GOTV field practices, integrating data and tools into issue and policy based campaigns
• Direct NYCET on how to advise and coach partners on best practices for integrating data with field programming.
• Work in partnership with academic experts and NYCET staff to design and implement experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of voter contact programs. 
• Provide guidance regarding data collection and assessment of training and technical assistance needs for participating cohort organizations. 

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 previous cycles organizing in political, nonprofit, labor, or community organization, either paid or unpaid, required.
• Demonstrated commitment to racial and gender equity and record of success working with communities of color, women, low-income people, LGBTQIA individuals, and other historically marginalized communities. 
• Experience training and facilitating racially, ethnically, and economically diverse leaders, organizers, and volunteers.
• Experience working in coalition with partners, or experience working in diverse communities. 
• Experience with the VAN (Voter Activation Network)/VoteBuilder or other civic engagement platforms). 
• Familiarity with tools for outreach, especially peer to peer SMS and predictive dialers (Spoke and ThruTalk a plus). 
• Experience with Excel and/or Google Sheets.
• Ability to work well under pressure, while maintaining a high level of detail orientation and meeting deadlines.
• Self-motivated, adept at problem solving, and able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. 
• Commitment to approaching the work in an inclusive and empathetic way.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships.

Compensation: $35-$50/hour depending on experience
