Sleepaway Camp Nurse (RN or LPN) at Two-Week Sleepaway Camp in PA

Writopia Lab, an award-winning 501(C)(3) nonprofit that runs the country's best creative writing workshops for kids and teens, is looking for two great nurses for our two-week sleepaway camp in Thompson, PA. Camp runs from Sunday, August 21st through Thursday, September 1st, 2022. Applicants must be available for this entire period. Compensation is $1,600 to $2,000 plus room and board. We will provide transportation from New York City to camp.

About Us

WriCampia is a creative writing-oriented sleepaway camp designed for kids ages 10 to 18. Our young writers spend the day participating in creative writing workshops, literary electives, and typical camp activities, such as boating and swimming. WriCampia 2022 will be held at Independent Lake Camp in Thompson, Pennsylvania (see map). We will provide transportation from New York City to and from the camp location.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing medicine to campers
• Caring for injured or sick campers (ages 10 to 19) and staffers
• Handling medical emergencies
• Administering Covid-19 rapid antigen and/or PCR tests as needed

Requirements

• Valid RN or LPN certification
• Minimum two years of camp experience
• A valid driver’s license
• A passion for working with kids and teens!

What Is WriCampia’s COVID-19 Plan?

In August of 2021 we ran WriCampia with 183 campers, 71 staff members, and the support and program staff at ILC — with zero cases of COVID. We did that through vaccination, testing, and detailed safety discussions. While the circumstances on the ground will no doubt be different come August of 2022, we are confident in our ability to maintain this track record. We will communicate with all staff (and camper families) in a timely manner to keep everyone apprised and informed of any updates regarding WriCampia, including COVID-19 precautions and plans.
