Project Coordinator: Community Action for Healthy Homes

Job Overview:

The Community Action for Healthy Homes (CAHH) project of the Brownsville Partnership identifies and fixes problems in the home that directly correlate with common health and safety issues. Focused on the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, this holistic model builds community knowledge, agency, and infrastructure to sustain healthy home repairs through a systematic quality improvement process. Local teams survey apartments and homes to identify fixes within the apartment that will improve residents’' health, such as stopping leaking bathtubs or replacing faulty power outlets. With the help of local contractors, the team then undertakes essential repairs within a matter of days. A core principle of the work is ‘no survey without service.’ Any house and resident whose unit receives a survey will receive priority repairs and follow-up to ensure repair work is achieved and uphold quality.
