The salary range for this position is $22 - $26 per hour (equivalent of $45,000 - $55,000 annually).

The Research Assistant will engage with multiple projects and tasks. This position is responsible for a range of supportive functions for the study teams, including participant management - outreach, scheduling, and remuneration. The Research Assistant contributes to the development, maintenance, and/or implementation of processes and procedures related to Resound’s research projects. The person in this position will also assist with study supply inventory, invoicing, and quality assurance. The Research Assistant reports to the Research Scientist or Senior Research Project Manager, as assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities

1.    Support internal administrative functions for studies and projects, such as appointment or meeting scheduling, note-taking, and document/file management.

2.     Contribute to the development, maintenance and/or implementation of procedures for study participant screening, interview scheduling, survey testing, data entry, and documentation.

3.     Assist with in-person and online participant recruitment and retention efforts for primary data collection studies, including developing recruitment materials and monitoring and maintaining participant and incentive tracking systems.

4.    Conduct qualitative transcript cleaning and review. Work with external transcription company to ensure timely and accurate project deliverables.

5.    Assist with conducting literature reviews and preparing summaries of themes and gaps in published reports.

6.    Assist in the organization and maintenance of the research library in Zotero.

Other duties and responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the development of presentations and webinars for community organizations and other stakeholders and for professional conferences.
  2. Contribute to the preparation of grant reports and grant applications.
  3. Assist with cognitive and/or in-depth interview coding.
  4. Contribute to an inclusive and supportive team-oriented environment that values collaboration, learning, and diverse perspectives.
  5. Other duties as assigned.


Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field (e.g., sociology, health sciences), or equivalent knowledge gained from relevant experience required.   
  • One (1) to two (2) years of professional experience in a related field required; prior experience working in reproductive and sexual health preferred.     
  • Previous research experience preferred.  
  • Experience applying written and oral communication skills to research studies preferred.
  • Spanish-language skills a plus

  • Ability to be flexible when deadlines and/or priorities change or shift. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to identify gaps and make connections among tasks and people involved on projects to ensure nothing is forgotten.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Familiarity with using social media (e.g., Instagram) to facilitate participant recruitment.
  • High level of computer literacy, including confidence using (or learning to use) Microsoft suite (e.g., SharePoint, Teams), Canva, and other digital tools.


This is a full-time, non-exempt position; evening and weekend hours may be needed to meet deadlines. Residence in Texas is strongly preferred; remote working arrangements within the U.S. may be accommodated. A reliable internet connection is needed. Even if not based in Austin, the person in this role will be expected to participate in regular in-person activities and meetings in Austin. We follow CDC COVID-19 recommendations for vaccination and guidelines for in-person work during pandemic surges.
