About the Development Associate: 

BRIC seeks a Development Associate, to coordinate primary objectives in collaboration with other members of the Development team. The Development Associate will help establish and implement processes for gifts and donor relations across BRIC with a focus on migration and rollout of a new database management system.  


What You’ll Do in the Role:

The Development Associate will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, Manager of Events and Membership:

Events & Membership

  • Support onsite event execution of development-driven events and membership engagement.
  • Assist in managing invitations and RSVPs for events including, but not limited to, ticketed events, member-driven events, concerts, and cultivation events.
  • Manage membership infrastructure (Orcascan, Cuseum, etc) and giving platforms (matching portals, FundraiseUp).
  • Lead communication with new, renewal, and lapsed members. 
  • Liaise with marketing on membership outreach campaigns and website updates. 
  • Draft member correspondence, event invitation language, and website copy. 

Gift Processing and Financial Reconciliation

  • Process donor and membership payments and execute gift acknowledgment process to ensure that all donations are acknowledged in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Support reconciliation with the Finance Department on a monthly and as needed basis.

Data Operations

  • Work with IT, Marketing, and Development teams to create and maintain information architecture and systems.
  • Maintain database integrity by ensuring all records are updated and accessible by various stakeholders.
  • Liaise with IT, Operations, and Marketing & Communications to support integrations with multiple software platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Development team and other departments to create standard and custom lists and reports.
  • Generate departmental status reports to measure progress against fundraising goals.
  • Work with Development team to generate mailing lists and merge lists for direct mail and email appeals, as well as event invitation lists, invoices, and pledge reminders

  • Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience within a sales team and/or managing business systems in place of degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in development and fundraising, particularly within a nonprofit/membership association.
  • Experience working with SalesForce or other CRM platforms or a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, promoting mutual accountability and inspiring trust from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, in addition to strong written and oral communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Interest and/or knowledge of Brooklyn history and NYC cultural community.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the fundraising function and setting an equity and justice rooted strategy for revenue generation and team management. 

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $45K-$50K.
  • Status and location: This is a hybrid, full-time, non-exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.

BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
