West Bronx Housing and Neighborhood Resource Center, Inc., since 1978, has worked to preserve and protect the affordable hosuing stock of the West Bronx for the people who live there. West Bronx Housing is looking for either a part time or a full time "Housing Assistant" who, under the direction of the Executive Director and the Housing Specialists, will be responsible for supporting the Housing Specialists, in regard to specific casework services provided to our clients. The Housing Assistant will primarily be responsible for greeting clients as they enter, conducting intake, and answering the phone when the Administrative Assistant is unavailable or occupied. A large majority of West Bronx Housing clients are monlingual Spanish speakers, so the ability to read and communicate in Spanish is a must.
The ideal Housing Assistant would also be able to assist with basic casework, such as Housing Connect, SCRIE and DRIE applications, one shot deals, and rent history requests. An applicant who is unfamiliar with any of these should be interested in and willing to learn how to do casework.
The part time position has the possibility of becoming a full time position, depending on the applicant, and depending on the yearly budgets for the city and state governments. If the part time position becomes a full time position, the Housing Assistant will gain a full range of benefits, including health insurance, dental, and 2 weeks paid leave.
