ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Schools That Can (STC) seeks to build an education to employment pathway to close the opportunity and skills gap. Locally, we work with a network of K-12 schools in historically underserved communities prepare students to succeed in a rapidly changing future.

Since 2005, nationally STC has grown into the largest cross-sector network of urban schools in our country, reaching some 210 district, charter, independent and faith-based schools across 15 cities, collectively serving over 80,000 students, roughly 80% of whom come from economically disadvantaged households. In Pittsburgh we provide a Career Readiness Curriculum and programming to 6 local high schools with the potential of adding another two for the SY2023.

The mission of STC is to build an education to employment pathway that helps close the opportunity and skills gap. We do this through innovative career readiness programs for grades 6-12 including our High School e2e Bridge Career Readiness Curriculum, STEM Career Skills and our Design Challenge for Middle Schools.


ABOUT THE POSITION:

STC Pittsburgh seeks a dynamic full-time Program Manager with a passion for connecting high school and middle school students with the real world and the modern economy.

This individual will co-teach our "e2e Bridge” program in person at 3-4 high schools in Pittsburgh. This program consists of six career readiness units designed by Schools That Can. Each unit represents 7-8 weeks at one hour a week of class instruction embedded into existing classes. Skills at coordinating our innovative programming with high school leaders, teachers, corporate volunteers and community partners is essential. Having experience with career readiness and having worked with or in Pittsburgh high schools or middle schools is preferred.

This role may also involve implementing our "Design Challenge” program in Pittsburgh. This program is a six week innovative event involving small cohorts of middle school students using design thinking to build career readiness skills.

The above responsibilities represent an ideal opportunity for a teacher with exceptional skills and a strong passion for advancing innovation in urban education in Pittsburgh. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, extremely responsive, highly motivated, and be able to work with teachers teachers, students and volunteers. They must be motivated by our vision for building an education to employment pathway to close the opportunity and skills gap. They must have can-do skills and a desire to be part of a leading organization that is helping to expand career readiness programming in urban schools.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Candidate should reside in the Pittsburgh area with familiarity with Pittsburgh and Allegheny County 6-12 schools;

Passion for ensuring that all children - particularly underrepresented students - access high quality educational options;

Focus on outcomes with a drive to go above and beyond;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; responsive to emails, calls and other forms of communication;

Ability to work well both independently, with our team and with schools;

Experience with career prep programming is preferred;

Proficiency in common tactical tools (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Dropbox) required; proficiency in specialized digital tools (Sales Force, social media) preferred.


COMPENSATION: Compensation will be offered commensurate with a candidate's experience.
