Position: Narrative Change Program Coordinator 

Reports to: Director of Strategic Programs and Evaluations

Status: full time, exempt, 2-year position

Deadline: April 30, 2022 

Salary: Expected salary for this position is $71,250 (Part of this amount may be reduced for remote workers who live outside of NYC, the bay area of CA, or Washington DC) 


About Transgender Law Center 

Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. We are looking for an energetic, motivated, and mission-oriented Program Coordinator to support a new two-year project to tell the stories of caretakers and different familial structures of the trans and non-binary communities. 

 

The Program Coordinator will join a team of passionate, smart, and dedicated individuals who work hard, laugh easily, and are eager to learn and grow together as we change the world.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate presentations for project-related meetings, trainings, and conferences; 
  • Prepare and monitor the budget for project-related expenses for approval; 
  • Prepare presentation materials for issue briefings with policymakers and funders; 
  • Maintain program records, including expenses, and grant reporting deadlines, participant and stakeholder contact information;  
  • Provide policy research assistance as needed; 
  • Manages the online learning platform for web-based and distance learning project activities such as community-led public education campaign about caretakers and chosen families; 
  • Builds and maintains project-specific listserv; 
  • In coordination with the communication team, develops and manages all story releases related to the project; 
  • Develops and reviews participant assessments and shapes the design and implementation of training materials and resources based on this information. 
  • Serves as project liaison with program staff, partners, and program consultants for all aspects of the project. 
  • Understands programmatic vision and goals of the project; 
  • Oversees the implementation of the program and related projects requiring maintaining strong lines of communication and coordination between all project partners, staff and consultants; 
  • Update board reports; 
  • In coordination with other related staff, contributes to the creation and dissemination of marketing and promotional materials for program services and events. 
  • Maintains databases for various program components, including but not limited to engagement and tracking of participants’ utilization, and organization of materials, resources, modules, etc; 
  • Collaborates closely with the lead agencies to report on appropriate outcome measures and monitors the results of service delivery;
  • Represents project in external meetings when necessary.
  • Represents related projects at various conferences, meetings, and other events as assigned; 
  • Performs other administrative tasks and other duties as assigned; 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Strong written and oral communications skills; 
  • Experience in coordinating and maintaining communication with multiple partners towards a shared goal; 
  • Demonstrated cultural competence working with TGNC youth and elders; 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly on the job; 
  • Demonstrated ability to train small to large groups; 
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings; 
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with trans and gender non-conforming communities, particularly trans women of color; 
  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized while managing multiple projects; 
  • Commitment to teamwork and a sense of humor; 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications; and 
  • Ability to travel frequently. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with messaging research, narrative change, and storytelling; 
  • Experience in community-based research, public health, public policy, and/or project management; 
  • Meeting facilitation/non-violent communication/conflict mediation; 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (or another language); and 
  • Experience with event management. 

 

Salary and Benefits  

Expected salary for this position is $71,250 (Part of this amount may be reduced for remote workers who live outside of NYC, the bay area of CA, or Washington DC)
