At a time of historic isolation and division, Everyday Boston is a nonprofit that brings people from all backgrounds together through the sharing of life stories, strengthening communication and understanding across the city.
We work in schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, and prisons, helping people develop the communication skills they need to understand each other, and giving them opportunities to connect through story sharing events and oral history projects.
Our online story library, which we like to call "a portrait of the people of Boston, by the people of Boston," contains more than 70 oral histories that neighbors have collected from each other. Story by story, we're working to make Boston the most connected city in America.
Do you believe in the power of stories to break down stereotypes and bridge divides?
We do, too! We’re great at doing it in person. Not so great at doing it online.
So we’re looking for a Digital Content Creator who can amplify Everyday Boston stories in new and creative ways for social media, helping our followers to feel connected to, and inspired by, the everyday people all around them.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced multimedia creator who can spot a shareable slice of someone’s story; has a talent for editing and creating content optimized for social media; and a track record of growing organic social media audiences.
This is a high impact role for a creative producer: You’ll get to build our social storytelling from the ground up, highlighting the voices of everyone from essential workers to elderly residents. You'll also get to collaborate with- and be a part of- a diverse community that ranges from high school students to seniors to people coming home from prison. Everyday Boston is a true team effort, and you'll work in that spirit to build our grassroots movement and make Everyday Boston a household name.
This position reports to the Founder/Executive Director, a former newspaper reporter who is excited about building out this critical role in the organization.
We know there are great candidates who might not check all these boxes or who have important skills we haven’t thought of. If that’s you- and you live or work in the Greater Boston area- don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself and why you think you’d be a good fit. We also encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including people of color, LGBTQI+ people, formerly incarcerated people, and people with disabilities.
We expect this role to start at 10-15 hours/week, with high potential to grow. Hours can be flexible. Our team is currently remote, and expecting to remain that way through 2022.
