    Pasadena Village is a nonprofit organization of adults over 55 whose mission is to foster vital independent living in a spirit of mutual support, enrichment, and inclusiveness. Pasadena Village has over 200 active older adult members who live in the west San Gabriel Valley and adjacent areas. They stay connected via active walking and hiking outings, support groups and discussion groups, and they support each other and contribute to the local community as they age in place. They plan educational programs and cultural activities to engage in lifelong learning, and to connect with each other and the wider community.     Schedule

    • 40 hours/week
    • Onsite work mainly at the Pasadena Village Office, 236 W. Mountain St, #104, Pasadena, CA 91103. Approximately 4-8 hours a week, work will be in the greater Pasadena area including attending and supporting Village programs and events (usually weekday mornings and afternoons), and representing Pasadena Village at community festivals (approximately 10 annually; usually Saturdays or Sundays)
    • After initial training, remote work, up to 1 day a week

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    This new position is integral to achieving Pasadena Village’s 2022-2027 Strategic Plan. You will work with Pasadena Village and the Executive Director to:

    • Recruit and retain Villagers (older adult members) especially those from diverse communities
    • Support member-driven programming
    • Help Villagers take an active role in building the community
    • Work with Villagers to address the wide variety of needs that come with aging
    • Help all Villagers be enriched by their involvement in the Village

    Recruit and support Villagers and community volunteers who will fill the needs of individual Villagers and Village operations

    Villager Engagement, Recruitment, & Coordination

      With the Executive Director and Villager Engagement Team, help Pasadena Village increase the capacity to support a growing membership (currently 215 older adults)

      • Represent Pasadena Village at community events. Work with Outreach Team to recruit

      new volunteers and Villagers; share membership materials and the benefits of membership with the public

      • Prepare membership packets and keep membership materials updated
      • Warmly welcome prospective Villagers via phone, email, and in person. Introduce them to Pasadena Village, and connect them to fellow older adults

       Work with the Executive Director, to develop and implement outreach strategies targeted to reflect the rich diversity of our community

      • Track prospective Villagers, invite them to events, send membership packets, and follow up by email and phone
      • Process new Villager information and payments using online membership database
      • Work with the

      Villager Engagement Team to welcome and orient new members, including planning orientations, connecting them with peers, keeping the Villager Manual updated, and leading Plan Your Month monthly sessions

      • Track the membership renewal process; send renewal notices, process renewed memberships using the online membership database
      • Keep accurate records of Villagers, emergency contacts, and data
      • Clearly communicate information with active members, committee chairs, and board members

      Villager Support

      • Address Villager inquiries, facilitate member-to-member referrals
      • Communicate clearly with Villagers through email, mail, and phone
      • Work with and create new volunteer teams to address member needs as they arise
      • Connect Villagers with volunteers and other resources in the community
      • With the Executive Director and volunteers, coordinate two annual resource fairs to introduce Villagers and the community to available resources
      • Refer Villagers needing extra attention or in crisis to the Care Team
      • Coordinate 1-on-1 volunteer visits and calls through the Village Visitors volunteer team

      Volunteer Coordination

        With the Executive Director, plan and implement recruitment, orientation, training, ongoing communication, cultivation, retention, and appreciation strategies

          Match volunteers’ strengths, interests, abilities, and availability with the needs of older adults and the organization

          • Recruit new community volunteers, especially those under 55
          • Coordinate with the Village Visitors volunteer team to maintain regular contact with 12-24 older adults. The Village Visitors are volunteers who regularly visit Villagers in their homes
          • Schedule volunteer drivers using online volunteer management platform to get Villagers to medical appointments, errands, and events
          • Work with the Executive Director and Volunteer Team, to identify potential leaders, especially BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) older adults

          With the Executive Director and Volunteer Team, update the Volunteer Manual and work with them to offer effective volunteer training

          • Work with the Executive Director and Communication Coordinator to maintain regular communication with all volunteers
          • Work with the Executive Director to identify, develop relationships with, and coordinate corporate volunteer opportunities
          • Screen new volunteers and manage volunteer information. Track volunteer hours and report on their contributions.

          Program Support

          • Work with Villagers to support them in creating new programs and gatherings
          • Evaluate programs and collect participant feedback
          • Work with Executive Director and village leaders to identify needs for new programs to implement, especially intergenerational programs and collaborations with other organizations

          Qualifications

          • Desire to work with older adults and volunteers of all ages
          • 2+ years of experience working with volunteers
          • 2+ years working in an office environment
          • Willingness to learn new skills
          • Well-organized and detail-oriented
          • Empathy
          • Must be able to move around indoor and outdoor areas
          • Reliable transportation
          • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
          • Must pass background check
          • Computer Skills: proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive), Microsoft (Excel and Word), and Zoom
          • Spoken and written Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese skills a plus
          • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

          This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Executive Director. $21-24/DOE
