    Descrição

Population Connection seeks applications for the 2026 Pathway Early Career Fellowship.

We welcome applications to a one-year, nonresident position intended for early-career professionals working in, and/or studying at the graduate level, the following subjects: population; demography; sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice; and/or the environment. Fellows receive a stipend (details below.) This is a remote-only position.

Population Connection is a nonprofit organization raising awareness about the negative impact of global population growth on our environment and human well-being. We make the “connection” between furthering reproductive rights and health and protecting the natural world.

    Scope of Work

We envision a mutually beneficial relationship, with the fellow continuing to work in their field of interest, while producing written or multimedia product(s) that supports our mission, and can be used to further our work. Senior staff would work with the fellow to determine and execute the final project.

This is a self-paced project, intended to be completed in tandem with the fellow’s regular professional work or studies. Fellows will have the opportunity to network, attend workshops and lectures (virtual and/or in-person).

Fellows will join two (2) virtual Zoom meetings of the board of directors held in February and October 2026. Fellows will attend the June 2026 in-person board meeting in Washington, DC, with PC covering all costs. Fellows will also attend a 3-day staff retreat that will follow the board meeting. There may also be an opportunity to attend a professional development conference.

    Requirements

Ideal candidates will have a work history of 3–10 years in one or more of the issues noted above and be broadly familiar with the field of population studies. While applicants will have an undergraduate degree, they are not required to have an advanced degree. We will consider applicants currently pursuing a graduate degree in the above fields.

International applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must fully support comprehensive reproductive health care and rights, including access to safe and legal abortion.

    Compensation

The fellowships are a one-year position and include a $10,000 stipend plus specified travel funding. The time commitment is equivalent to several weeks of work throughout the year. The workload includes self-directed project(s) as agreed upon. Stipends are disbursed twice during the fellowship period.

    Application process

The application will include a cover letter, resume, or CV, as well as contact information for two references. The cover letter will address how your experience and education relate to our mission and activities; how you foresee the fellowship can help us fulfill that mission; and how you will benefit from the fellowship.

Please submit the application as a single PDF document to fellowships@populationconnection.org

by December 31, 2025. We will contact only candidates we wish to interview. Interviews will be conducted by a virtual panel via Zoom.

    No phone calls please.

Health insurance and other benefits are not offered with this position.

Population Connection is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Our DEI statement is available here.
