Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK) seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee all financial and corporate compliance functions for the organization. This is a part-time leadership position, suited for someone skilled in nonprofit financial management. The CFO works with staff leadership to craft the annual operating budget (~$1.5 million, three program cost centers), produces monthly and quarterly reports to review with senior staff and Board members, directs contracted financial services for all bookkeeping processes, and manages all funding contracts (~10), including quarterly drawdowns. Schedule is flexible and semi-remote work options are available.
Mission & Background Information
DESK serves people experiencing homelessness or living in poverty by providing food assistance and services that promote health, community, and equity. We are located in Downtown New Haven, just off the Green, with administrative offices on nearby East Street. DESK is a dynamic organization, having grown from a staff of 2.40 FTE, a budget of $180,000, and less than $50,000 in non-cash assets in 2017, to a staff of 14.60 FTE, a budget of more than $1.5 million, and non-cash assets of over $1 million. Currently, DESK is completing a $4 million capital renovation of our Drop-in & Resource Center.
