Associate, Development Operations (Part-Time)

For almost 50 years, Covenant House has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence. This work is carried out across Covenant House sites in 34 cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Primary Function of Position: 

The Associate, reporting to Manager, Development Operations, plays a key role in the execution of donor engagement strategy by providing information integral to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, institutional and corporate donors and prospects who have the capacity to make transformational contributions to Covenant House. 

Job Duties:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively identify new major and transformational giving prospects
  • Participate in the regular refresh of relationship manager portfolios using CHI’s look-alike model and other prospecting tools
  • Prepare and track research profiles and reports used in all stages of the relationship management cycle
  • Utilize CRM, DonorDrive, iWave, WealthEngine and other systems for prospect research
  • Support stewardship efforts by assigning thank you calls and donor follow-ups to relationship managers
  • Support, attend and occasionally facilitate prospect review and donor cultivation strategy meetings
  • Support grant research and writing efforts for the corporate partnerships and institutional giving teams
  • Manage research deliverables in project management system and CRM
  • Participate in team meetings and/or conference calls
  • Manage other projects and perform administrative duties as assigned by department leadership


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) that include sensitivity to donor information
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of prospect research
  • Experience with EveryAction or similar donor databases a plus
  • Detail oriented, able to quickly and concisely synthesize large amounts of information
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and the equivalent Microsoft 365 software
  • General computer skills that aid in the learning and use of research tools and project management software
  • Ability to work with multiple deadlines under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work for several different individuals on a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Must be dedicated to the mission of Covenant House


Minimum Education & Experience:

  • 1-3 years of related experience
