The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.

The Center is seeking a Manager, Communications Engagement for the Communications team, which is responsible for the Center’s external communications. The department oversees the Center’s website, social media, email marketing, video production, publicity, and events.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Communications and working closely with a growing and collaborative communications team, the Engagement Manager will be a nimble, strategic, creative thinker with their finger on the pulse of the justice reform space. The ideal candidate will be a strong and effective written and verbal communicator with the ability to both edit research findings and craft an engaging  tweet. This role will help the department grow its audience and increase reach and engagement with key target audiences including policymakers, funders, donors, and practitioners. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Actively manage and monitor the organization’s social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube);
  • Develop and implement segmented social media strategy; including recommendations of future social media platforms to adopt;
  • Develop and implement a robust ongoing social media calendar based on marketing and communications goals;
  • Write, edit, and proofread reports, fact sheets, memos, blog posts, landing pages, emails, and other long- and short-form communications for a variety of audiences and stakeholders; including ability to write within the brand and voice guidelines of the Center;
  • Propose ideas for articles, blog posts, campaigns, and social media posts;
  • Provide support and manage coordination on projects, including social media campaigns, Center-sponsored events, relevant holiday/observances messaging, and coverage/capture of events at operating programs;
  • Assist in building communications capacity at Center operating sites by participating in trainings and developing resources for multiple teams to share;
  • Other relevant duties, as assigned.

Position Type: Full-time; New York area candidates preferred, but remote candidates considered.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of equivalent work experience, possessing a strong background in communications and marketing. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Familiarity and experience with all major social media platforms and MailChimp (or similar email service provider) is required. Event planning skills a plus. Candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and work successfully both independently and within a collaborative team. They will be culturally responsive and interested in helping reform the criminal justice system. 

Compensation: Salary range starts at $70,000 and is commensurate with experience.
