We are looking for a full-time Facilities Manager. A strong leader that ensures optimal functioning of internal and external facilities including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, elevators, and more. Supervision, training and oversight of all maintenance, custodial, and housekeeping staff at (3) JCC locations. Leveraging organization skills, problem solving, and creative thinking, the Facilities Manager is required to resolve escalated issues and drive continuous process improvement and team development. This position relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and lead the work of others with a wide degree of creativity and cost-effectiveness. This position is in Nassau County, (East Hills), Long Island.

How You’ll Help Us Be Successful:

  • Supervision, training and oversight of all maintenance, custodial, and housekeeping staff at 3 JCC locations
  • Provide direction on work prioritization and coordination to maintenance staff to ensure all cleaning, room set-ups and break-downs, repairs, and grounds maintenance and upkeep are done appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Monitor, maintain, repair, replace, and purchase (after all appropriate approvals), all systems, equipment, central supplies, including HVAC, cleaning supplies, road salt & sand, security/alarms, fire extinguishers, first aid & AED kits and supplies, pool chemicals, paper goods, etc.
  • Coordinate and oversee all snow and ice removal from roads, parking areas and sidewalks
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with all departments for prioritizing and meeting maintenance and facility needs
  • Assist and work with staff members and rental clients to ensure efficient execution of programs, events, including prior set-up per specifications; and the presentation of clean, functional, and workable facilities
  • Respond to emergencies in building and on campus as needed
  • Suggest improvements to facilities and equipment systems to improve performance and reduce environmental impact and cost
  • Attend staff meetings to address program and rental needs are met through scheduling and assignments (e.g. special events and program set ups, facilities cleaning, preventative maintenance and building work order assignments)
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervisory conferences, departmental meetings, and meetings of maintenance staff.
  • Assist with Center-wide special events and programs
  • Work with VP Operations to hire companies to handle maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) systems as well as to review and negotiate contracts relating to facilities
  • Understand and maintain equipment warranties and maintenance contracts; including dates of servicing and repairs
  • Maintain and upgrade Facilities Guidebook
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

  • A minimum five years of experience in facilities operations, maintenance and staff supervision
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal regulations
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical and aquatic equipment and systems. A certification is highly preferred in any of these areas
  • Outstanding leadership and managerial skills
  • Knowledge of janitorial and housekeeping skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to lift and move tables, chairs and other equipment
  • Fire safety director certification preferred
  • Pool Operator certification preferred
