    Descrição

Work to stop plastic pollution. We are hiring for citizen outreach and field manager positions working on issues like stopping plastic pollution, advocating for renewable energy, and holding corporations accountable for their pollution and waste.

In our Portland office, we're working to keep microplastics from entering our oceans and waterways. Most plastic products are made from tiny plastic pellets that cause big problems for our environment and health. The plastic industry dumps or spills millions of these pellets into our waterways each year, and they can take hundreds of years to degrade. These pellets are now the second largest source of marine microplastic. Companies shouldn’t be allowed to pollute our waterways with microplastic and that’s why we’re working to pass the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act, which bans companies from dumping or spilling plastic pellets. With enough public support, we can convince elected officials to support or champion this bill.

    As a canvasser you will:

    • Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues
    • Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills
    • Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community
    • Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field
    • Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work

At Fund for the Public Interest, we are seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change to fill citizen outreach and field manager positions. We are hiring full-time and part-time staff and have leadership opportunities available.
