Development Manager

The Development Manager is responsible for managing and strategically expanding the PEPS Annual Giving Program including direct mail, online campaigns, workplace giving, monthly giving, and events. This position manages and executes the annual PEPS signature Benefit Event and engages, cultivates, and stewards donors throughout all campaigns.

The Development Manager fosters a culture of philanthropy, applies the Community Centric Fundraising Principles to the PEPS development work, and is an enthusiastic ambassador to donors, sponsors, partners, and the community.

Since 1983, the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS), a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization has helped parents connect and grow as they begin their journey into parenthood. PEPS parent support programs educate, inform and create community. We've become a vital resource for new parents in the Puget Sound region, with parent groups serving thousands of families annually.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Annual Giving Program

  • Manages, strategically expands, evaluates, and refines the PEPS Annual Giving Program including direct mail, online campaigns, workplace giving and a monthly giving strategy.
  • Develops and implements innovative fundraising strategies to engage with the PEPS Community.
  • Manages overall solicitation and stewardship calendar.
  • Collaborates with Communications, Development and Program staff to develop materials that support the Annual Giving Program.

Events

  • Manages and evolves the annual PEPS Benefit Event and associated Giving Campaign (to be held in May 2023) and other cultivation, stewardship, and community engagement events.
  • Organizes and facilitates event strategy teams to foster collaboration with Program, Operations and Communication Teams; engages staff, volunteers, and participants.
  • Leads event marketing and communications including messaging, emails, social media, and event collateral with support and thought partnership from the Communications Team.
  • Creates event/campaign specific gift acknowledgement letters, impact reports and manages the year-round event donor communications.
  • Solicits and secures corporate sponsorships and ensures that sponsorships are fulfilled appropriately and that all event sponsors and corporate partners are recognized and stewarded.
  • Constructs work plans, creates, and tracks event budgets and oversees contracts and relationships with vendors.
  • Leads event evaluation and feedback gathering and implements learning into future planning; communicates results to stakeholders.
  • Acts as the organizational liaison for third-party fundraising events, providing promotional support, and attending events to represent PEPS.

Donor Relations

  • Builds and cultivates relationships with PEPS donors, volunteers, alumni, sponsors, and funders respectfully, innovatively, and confidentially.
  • Develops and implements innovative fundraising strategies to engage with the PEPS Community.
  • Works with PEPS Staff, Board, Advisors, Ambassadors, and Group Leaders to instill a culture of philanthropy and encourage relationship building and engagement.
  • Collaborates on donor stewardship efforts and shared gift acknowledgement as an integrated part of the PEPS donor stewardship work.

Fundraising Operations

  • Collaborates on the development and implementation of the annual fundraising plan.
  • Tracks, enters, and updates sponsor/vendor/donor information in CRM.
  • Ensures documentation of all processes in SharePoint and CRM.
  • Assists Development Director in management functions including preparation of budget and ongoing monitoring of financial activity.

CORE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience developing and executing successful and creative fundraising appeals and events.
  • Strong communications skills including developing a case for support.
  • Skilled in developing work plans with tasks and tactics that achieve strategic goals and outcomes.
  • Proficiency with CRM database systems and Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development/fundraising.
  • Database utilization experience.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee must be based out of the greater Seattle area.
  • Sponsorship for US work authorization is not available for this position.
  • We require that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All offers are contingent, and your vaccine status will be verified prior to onboarding.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Office Location: PEPS is located in Seattle, Washington with a main office in the historic Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford, adjacent to Meridian Park and the beautiful Seattle Tilth Gardens. There is a satellite office in the Parent Trust building in the Rainier Valley. Both locations have ample parking and are close to public transit.   

Workspace: Due to the ongoing pandemic, PEPS is currently operating virtually with staff mostly working from home with the option of using PEPS office space if they wish. There will be some in-person training or meetings required at our Wallingford office. When staff return to normal operations, the job requires a minimum of 65% in-office presence during regular business hours. Almost all work will take place during the weekdays, although occasionally there is an evening or weekend event or meeting. PEPS believes in a flexible working environment and hours and will collaborate with the Development Manager to plan a schedule that works for all.
