Position Description

The position of Executive Director offers the opportunity to be a leader in the Issaquah community and to interact with people in a highly diverse school district. The position reports to the Board Chair and leads a professional staff. In collaboration with a volunteer Board of Trustees, the Executive Director executes the strategic and operational vision of the Foundation. As the face of the Issaquah Schools Foundation, the Executive Director must carefully balance internal staff management with community visibility and impact, helping to grow awareness of the Foundation and, ultimately, the pool of donors. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Financial Accountability
• Lead the development of annual fundraising goals and, with the Board, drive the creation and execution of the development plan to achieve those goals.
• Lead development and delivery of the annual budget, including staffing plan.
• Operational Effectiveness
• Lead development and execution of the annual strategic plan.
•  Team and Stakeholder Management
• Motivate and develop staff to meet their professional goals and the operational goals of the Foundation.
• Act as liaison between staff and Board, ensuring staff needs are met and creating a seamless relationship between the two.
•  Assist in Board Development
• Lead collaboration between the Foundation and its key stakeholders, including donors, district administration, Issaquah School Board, PTSA Council, and Issaquah Education Association.
• Donor Management
• Lead the organization in the development and nurturing of its donor base, including development of a comprehensive donor strategy accounting for Major Donors, Corporate Donors, and the consistent development of new community donors.

Basic Qualifications

·        Minimum 5 years people management experience required

·        Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

·        Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse population of staff, community members, volunteers, and key stakeholders required.

·        Aptitude to lead and ability to serve as the spokesperson for the Foundation required.

·        Excellent project management skills and ability to deliver desired outcomes required.

·        Non-profit or Fundraising experience required. Significant high-level volunteer experience considered.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience working with a nonprofit volunteer Board preferred.

·        Prior organization management preferred.

·        Track record of fundraising success and the ability to recruit and interact with donors preferred.

·        Certified Fundraising Executive Certification (CFRE) or equivalent.

·        Proficiency in QuickBooks, Donor Perfect, Office 365.

·        Digital and social media experience including Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.
