Parkinson’s Resources is poised for a break out year for our fundraising events and we are seeking a Development Coordinator ready to step in with an immediate impact to ensure we get there. The primary function of this position is the implementation of Sole Support for Parkinson’s – a series of Peer-to-Peer fundraising and awareness walks.

If you are a confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter able to work collaboratively (and with limited supervision), you might be a good fit. In addition to fundraising or Peer-to-Peer experience, your skills with volunteer recruitment & management, sales & business development, community outreach and social media marketing will further enhance your success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position balances a wide range of responsibilities. In addition to fundraising events, candidates with experience in logistics, customer service, sales, volunteer management, vendor management, outreach, website and graphic design will find those skills helpful in this role. The candidate must be able to anticipate project needs, discern changing priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. The candidate will recognize personal and organization limitations (time and resources) to prioritize time and opportunities accordingly.

Signature Events (~70% of position)

In 2022, primary responsibility and focus of this position will be the success of Sole Support for Parkinson’s, a series of four Peer-to-Peer fundraising walks held in Bend, Eugene, Vancouver, and Portland. The outcome of this event hinges upon the incumbent’s ability to organize hundreds of supporters, motivating them with tools and encouragement for their fundraising efforts. The Coordinator should anticipate additional event coordination responsibilities as in-person gatherings resume and other events are vetted for viability.

Sole Support Responsibilities Include:

  1. Ensure all logistical details, including vendor management and permitting, are in place and planned with the constituent experience in mind.
  2. Proactively recruit past and potential event sponsors, teams, and individual participants.
  3. Cultivate relationships among walkers, donors and sponsors to increase engagement.
  4. Provide hands-on support and coaching to event participants, encouraging and assisting them in implementing personal fundraising strategies.
  5. Track and manage goals for each walk location. Provide thoughtful and timely interventions to attain revenue and expense goals.
  6. Recruit and lead the work of key volunteers for local planning and day-of needs.
  7. Coordinate and manage all marketing and public awareness for events in each market supported by creation of print and digital resources.
  8. Prepare and share regular reports and status updates.

3rd Party or Community Driven Events (~10% of position)

3rd party events are grassroots philanthropic activities organized by community volunteers to benefit the work of Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon. As the primary point of contact, the Coordinator will:

  1. Encourage the creation and growth of 3rd party activities.
  2. Execute and monitor written agreements with event organizers.
  3. Provide expertise to support implementation and best practices.
  4. Represent PRO with onsite presence at 3rd Party activity as schedules allow.

Communications (~20% of position)

  1. Development Coordinator will actively contribute to the creation and management of social media content that promotes services and inspires engagement.
  2. Coordinator will assist with organization and event specific website updates.
  3. Coordinator will create print and digital materials to support event and program goals.
  4. Coordinator will seek local and regional media coverage of PRO activities.

These core responsibilities are meant as a general guideline and do not preclude new or additional responsibilities or assignments. In no way should this listing be considered an exhaustive description of the actions and tasks necessary or required for success in achieving annual targets and goals. Certain functions not explicitly stated above are understood to be essential to this position, and the incumbent may be called upon to assist with additional tasks as needs and shifting priorities may dictate.
