Descrição

Are you an experienced people manager seasoned in volunteer engagement who wants to improve the lives of more than 300,000 Alameda County residents?

Are you a creative and strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced community-facing environment? Do you want to apply your organizational

and teambuilding skills to helping one of the Bay Area’s top non-profits — and a nationally recognized leader in hunger relief — achieve its mission? If so, Alameda County Community Food Bank could be looking for you as our next Volunteer Engagement Manager.

About the Position:   The volunteer experience manager oversees daily operations for a program that welcomes 15,000+ volunteers annually. This position supervises a team of three people. Working across the food bank, the manager is responsible for ensuring all daily operational needs are met; sorting food in the warehouse, supporting community events, staffing our distributions and emergency hotline, and other projects.

The ideal candidate is a strong people-manager who thrives in motivating a team to direct, educate, engage, and inspire volunteers in our mission. They believe volunteers are an integral part of our work—both in the immediate impact and their ongoing/broadened engagement—and are committed to building a world-class program that reflects the diversity of Alameda County. The manager is passionate about our mission and knows how to create meaningful experiences that drive engagement in all aspects of our work through volunteerism as the entryway. The manager has a strong work ethic and can champion new initiatives and lead process change toward constant growth and improvement.

Alameda County Community Food Bank is a well-established and multi-faceted organization, which has been at the forefront of food justice efforts for 40 years. We are a dedicated group of mission-driven people who will provide enough food for 30 million meals this year for 1 in 4 county residents facing food insecurity. But that barely scratches the surface of all our work. We’re changing lives … we’re forward thinkers who encourage innovation … we’re proud of our work … and we’re having fun doing it!

Our strategic plan sets a bold trajectory for the long-term work required to dismantle the systems that perpetuate hunger and poverty, including racism. Our staff regularly engage in conversations about race, class, power, and privilege as part of our organizational commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
