    The Housing Rights Center ("HRC") is seeking a Housing Case Analyst/Investigator. HRC is the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit fair housing organization. Our mission is to actively support and promote fair housing through education and advocacy, to the end that all persons have the opportunity to secure and protect the housing they desire and can afford, without discrimination based on their race, color, religion, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, familial status, marital status, disability, ancestry, age, source of income including Section 8, immigration status or other characteristics protected by law. HRC provides (1) Housing Discrimination Complaint Investigation, (2) Legal Services, (3) Outreach and Education, and (4) Landlord/Tenant Counseling in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The Case Analyst/Investigator is expected to work 40 hours/week, during business hours, and primarily at the Los Angeles office with possible remote workdays. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work with staff to analyze, investigate, and resolve housing discrimination complaints which include:

    • Coordinating, analyzing, and conducting tests (comparing the treatment of applicants)
    • Taking witness statements and surveying tenants
    • Compiling accurate and complete case files, conducting the necessary research, and
    • Counseling clients throughout the complaint process.
    • Coordinate the resolution of discrimination complaints, through conciliation and litigation support.
    • Assist with tester recruitment and training.
    • Further compliance with contractual requirements and fair housing goals.
    • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
    • Communicate and negotiate with landlords and housing providers

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A demonstrated and sincere commitment to civil rights, social justice, acceptance, and inclusivity.
    • Strong knowledge of landlord/tenant and fair housing laws is a plus.
    • Investigation, legal research, and complex analytical skills are a plus.
    • Excellent time management skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Must be well organized, be able to meet multiple deadlines and be a strong team member.
    • Spanish fluency is a plus.

    SALARY RANGE: $52K - $58K DOE
