Sherith Israel Preschool is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic early childhood educator to join our outstanding team; leading children ages 2-5 years old in a play-based setting inspired by the values of Reggio-Emilia and Jewish learning.

Starting Salary Range: $24-$30
Salary is determined based on total years of experience, education level, and ECE

Up to 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:30 pm

General Duties:
- Interactions with children must reflect respect, compassion and a willingness to guide the child gently.
- Maintain and implement procedures to ensure the children's health and safety, ensuring they are always supervised.
- Keep records on each child, including weekly and monthly attendance sheets, accident logs, developmental growth, conference records, and notes home.
- Assume an equal share of the staff's joint housekeeping responsibilities.
- Create and work towards mutually agreed upon goals of an annual professional growth plan set with supervisor.
- Attend all staff meetings and be accountable for all information disbursed at such meetings and in written format.
- Participate in recommended professional development programs, in-service workshops, and other opportunities for professional growth.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional, and effective communication and supportive ties with children, staff, parents, and third-party consultants to meet the individual needs of children and their families. This will establish a partnership between school and home for the child.
- Understand, and articulate the philosophy of the school.
- Assist in public relations and community-building events sponsored by the school.
- Engage in respectful dialogue with parents.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with fellow staff members, the School Director, and other staff within the synagogue; work in cooperation and with respect for fellow staff members.
- Maintain professional standards and conduct and a positive work ethic.
- Respect the confidentiality of school-related information.
- A flexible, go-with-the-flow attitude
- Can multitask and jump in where needed
- Perform other duties, as requested by the supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the classroom teaching team and contributes to the classroom as required by the classroom team
- Provide lunch and 10-minute breaks to teachers
- Prep/plan activities for the aftercare program
- Substitute for teachers when they cannot be in the classroom, ie, sick time, vacation, or conferences.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- AA degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred
- A minimum of 6 ECE units in Early Childhood Education in courses designated in the following areas: Child Development, Child, Family and Community, ECE Curriculum, and ECE Programs. Teachers must commit to completing 12 ECE units by the end of their first year of employment.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to perform duties such as helping children up the changing table
- Ability to work outside during most all-weather conditions
- All teachers are expected to be able to go on neighborhood walks spontaneously or planned for lengths up to 2 miles round trip and lasting up to 2 hours.
- Teachers must be able to squat or kneel at the children’s level
- Teachers must be able to move quickly around the classroom or outdoor environment to supervise children safely
