Code2College is dramatically increasing the number of minority and low-income high school students who enter and excel in STEM undergraduate majors and careers and is looking to hire several Part-Time, Contracted Program Coordinators to support its mission.

This position is based in a home office with some in-person duties. Applicants must be located in the Austin Metropolitan area.

As a Part-Time, Contracted Program Coordinator, you will engage in professional communication and stakeholder engagement, as well as support a cohort of students and schools from your region.

Additionally, a Part-Time, Contracted Program Coordinator will:

  • Support a portfolio of student participants across their region by leading student check-ins and observing classes, drafting student-facing communications, and supporting student recruitment.
  • Track and analyze student-level performance data to identify meaningful and actionable insights regarding programmatic effectiveness, and to identify and act on areas for improvement.
  • Establish and leverage relationships with student participants, volunteer instructors, and other stakeholders to cultivate a sense of community within and across programs.
  • Occasional in-person responsibilities as needed.

We are looking for someone who is early on in their career or looking to move into the non-profit education space, is eager to grow and develop, and is committed to our mission to equip minority and low-income high school students with the professional skills they need to excel in STEM degrees and careers.

  • You have a love of learning. You believe that your talents can be developed and you see feedback as an investment in your personal and professional growth.
  • You build trust and operate with integrity. You communicate openly and honestly when there is an issue so we can address it together.
  • You consider yourself a natural problem solver. You are always thinking about ways to do things better or differently, and you love to find solutions to tough problems.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You see yourself as a self-starter who is driven by setting and meeting goals, and getting better all the time. You are motivated by challenges and bounce back quickly from set-backs.
  • You prioritize outcomes over inputs and “why” over “what.”
  • You are driven by goals and data, and you see outcomes as your north star.
  • You consistently align yourself to the “why” of the work to determine the how and the what.

Additionally, to be successful at Code2College, you will be aligned with our core values:

  • Resourcefulness: we're a lean startup and none of us are experts; there are so many opportunities to leverage relationships, free and low-cost resources and communal assets to the betterment of our students and organization.
  • Urgency: the work that we do is important and every moment is an opportunity to change the lives of our students.
  • Transparency: we are candid with each other, share challenges as well as triumphs and have an orientation toward learning from our mistakes by talking about them openly.
  • Humility: every success is a team success and we're stronger as one unit; none of us can do this without the support of others.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience in a K-12 setting prioritized. Experience in an education setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with a nonprofit or a startup is a plus.
  • A love for working with people, both adults and youth.
  • Has impeccable professionalism which will serve as a model for students.
  • Has a proven track record of attention to detail and effective execution.
  • Is a clear communicator, both verbal and in writing.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
  • Willingness to work various evenings and weekends required.
  • Authorization to work in the United States required.

The contracted work will include an hourly part-time rate of $15-20 per hour with a maximum of 30 hours per week. Your work days will be exclusive to Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday expectations for workshops etc. This is a contracted position with the possibility to renew the contract or possibility for movement to a full-time role. Benefits will not be extended for the part-time role.

Please submit your resume, tailored cover letter, and salary requirements through our online application. We recommend including a cover letter that addresses your interest in Code2College’s mission and your fit for this opportunity. We also encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible as we are reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

Code2College is a growing non-profit organization based in Austin, TX with a mission to dramatically increase the number of minority and low-income high school students who enter and excel in STEM undergraduate majors and careers. These students often lack access to some of the most in-demand careers and technical industries. Further, the absence of opportunity to explore these areas through exposure to industry professionals, technical skills development, and at-bats to practically apply these skills has led to the dearth of diverse technical talent that we see today. We believe that through our approach to education, exposure, and experience, we can enhance student preparation for rigorous, technical careers and mitigate some of the key factors around STEM attrition. Code2College has served over 2,000 students since 2016 and we plan to have served over 8,000 students by 2024.

Code2College is an equal opportunity employer and an organization that values diversity. Code2College is committed to maintaining a non-discriminatory work environment and we do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or any other personal characteristic protected by applicable law.
