CSC South Bay is an independent non-profit organization affiliated with the international Cancer Support Community & Gilda’s Clubs. Located in South Torrance, CSC South Bay strives to serve over 2,000 cancer patients and families annually by providing over 18 weekly support groups, 150 healthy lifestyle classes and educational workshops all FREE OF CHARGE to anyone touched by a cancer diagnosis. Services are offered both virtually and in-person at our South Torrance office.
Summary of Essential Duties:
Reporting to the Program Director/Chief Clinical Officer, the Outreach & Kids Community Manager is an integral part of the program team. This position has three primary areas of responsibility: overall community outreach to increase program attendance, coordination of the Kids Community monthly activities, and supporting our virtual and in-person program delivery. This position does not supervise any others.
Responsibilities:
Outreach(50%)
- Continually increases number of new participants accessing our services by use of strategic community outreach efforts including, but not limited to fostering relationships with existing and new hospitals, healthcare providers, community organizations, schools, and faith-based communities to raise awareness of our services.
- Assists in the creation of overall organizational outreach plan and tracks progress in relevant areas.
- Maintains regular contact with community partners via on-site visits, phone calls and emails.
- Collaborates with Communications Manager to create and distribute targeted materials.
- Manages the distribution and tracking of outreach materials to measure greatest impact.
- Prepares and delivers community presentations about program services.
- Identifies and re-engages lapsed participants.
- Works closely with Program Manager to identify medical experts for educational workshops.
- Daily data entry to track progress and outcomes.
Kids Community (30%)
- Creates strategy and work plan to substantially increase the number of children and teens served by the organization.
- Plans and executes monthly Kids Community activity.
- Leads outreach efforts to schools and youth-serving organizations.
- Works closely with the Cancer Support Navigator to identify new families with children.
- Identifies creative ways to grow the in-person activities for kids and teens.
- Daily data entry to track progress and outcomes.
Programming & Administrative Assistance (20%)
- Assists in the coordination of virtual and in-person programming.
- Helps to identify gaps in access to psychosocial care.
- Contributes to grant proposals with program data, stories, and ideas.
- Represents CSC South Bay as requested by Program Director and the CEO.
- Other duties assigned by the Program Director or CEO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
- Experience working with children, teens, and families preferred.
- Experience building community relationships and leading outreach efforts to increase program participation.
- Knowledge of the local community, cancer support services and organizations preferred.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.
- Strategic thinker who can identify new ways of increasing program participation.

- Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

- Experience with data entry, database administration and analysis preferred.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
