The Special Events Coordinator Consultant supports the success of fundraising special events for the non-profit organization: Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven (LV). Works with staff and volunteer leadership to assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing events designed to raise funds for and to promote community awareness of LV programs and services. Responsible for engaging former and new donors and prospects to increase event sponsorship.
Responsibilities:
-Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct special events 2 times per year, during the fall and spring as well as monthly “Fund & Friend” raisers.
-Act as event liaison between the client and vendors, donors, etc.
-Responsible for third party management of photographers, catering, and other services to ensure seamless presentation and positive experience.
-Work closely with Development and Marketing Committees as well as support staff.
-Maintain records on event activities, progress, status, and post event summary.
-Attend event to oversee activities and ensure details are handled as planned.
-Work with and give guidance to volunteers and staff involved in event planning and execution.
-Negotiate and contract with vendors for a variety of goods and services related to special event planning.
-Monitor delivery of goods and services to ensure contract terms are satisfied.
-Develop and maintain a network of contacts, both internal and external, to facilitate event coordination.
-Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by clients.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 3 years of special events experience, nonprofit events preferred. Skills and Abilities: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent verbal and written skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office preferred and other applications. Highly organized and detail oriented to manage event timelines. A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment.
