Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Director of Educational Programs to oversee and manage our Education Program and team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management and relationship management and team management.

This team member will be a key advocate to help reach our growing number of schools and partnerships. The position is a leadership role with opportunities for growth. This role involves both management of staff and strategic planning of program implementation and expansion.

The ideal candidate for this position is able to:

  • Provide instructional support and supervision to education staff
  • Provide program recommendations to Executive Directors and to school partners
  • Manage and oversee development of new, and improvement of existing, curriculum & materials
  • Organize critical details for programming including, but not limited to, materials, curriculum, and scheduling
  • Act as the key point person for Change is Simple staff, as well as partner teachers and school leadership
  • Provide guidance to education staff
  • Understand staff member’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Conduct check in meetings and evaluations
  • Delegate tasks
  • Create teaching teams with appropriate staff and mentor(s)
  • Participate in school partnership meetings
  • Manage partnership contracts and necessary legal paperwork associated with working with schools (for the 2024-25 school year, this will be part of training and shadowing the CSO)
  • Train staff to lead educational programming
  • Lead classroom instruction
  • Teach a variety of pre-developed lesson plans to students of all types
  • Report on and collect data from the program
  • Represent the organization at Community Events
  • Assist with the general needs of the organization including, but not limited to, event preparation, fundraising, outreach, etc.
  • This position reports to the CSO and ED


  • BS or BA in a STEAM field - or - Education
  • Minimum of 3 years working with children (preferably in grades K-8)
  • Familiar with inquiry-based learning/experiential learning
  • Previous teaching experience (formal or informal)
  • Strong knowledge of public school systems
  • Strong knowledge and value of sustainability
  • Patience and cheerful attitude when working with community groups, schools, and the public
  • Ability to work both cooperatively and independently
  • Current CPR and 1 Aid certification (or ability to acquire)
  • Favorable completion of CORI & SORI background check (completed by Change is Simple)
  • Valid Driver’s License and daily usage of vehicle
  • Ability to carry 30 lbs of equipment up 30+ stairs
