Position overview: 

Program Associate, reporting to the Senior Policy Manager, this position will primarily support IEL’s Everyone: An Advocate suite of services, policy and advocacy efforts, and Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program (RAMP). The anticipated allocation of time will be 70% spentsupporting the Everyone: An Advocate suite of services and 30% will be spent supporting the RAMP program; however, this allocation may vary at times depending upon the needs of the programs.

The position will coordinate all the administrative, logistical, and event planning elements associated with these areas of work, as well as support programmatic elements. The Program Associate’s work will ensure that programmatic goals are realized through high-quality, on-time, effective implementation of all administrative, logistical, and program support tasks and deliverables. The Program Associate will work across IEL’s various teams, with particular attention to the policy and RAMP teams.

Major responsibilities:  

  • Support logistical duties such as: scheduling calls and meetings, follow-up communications, note-taking (within the organization and offsite at area meetings/events), printing, vendor outreach, securing meeting space, and project tracking of deliverables associated with major events and services.
  • Support all logistical and administrative event planning duties associated with the following events: Washington Policy Seminar (conference), Federal Policy Institute (winter in-person course), and RAMP meetings (conference).
  • Run online support including administration and IT support of webinars, virtual meetings, virtual course sessions, monitoring of online chats and communities of practice, and updates to webpages and online program portals.
  • Design and develop program materials such as meeting agendas, program books, slide decks, brochures, signate, and other programmatic collateral.
  • Database management of contacts and data for internal operational and external communication.
  • Engage in research and writing of monthly federal policy updates (e-blasts) and contribute to IEL’s newsletters and update emails to our various networks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies developed: 

  • Experience working for a national education nonprofit with rich history and deep relationships across the country.
  • Experience in event planning of various types of events with diverse learners, formats, and durations.
  • Experience multi-tasking across diverse programs, services, and experiences for leaders from across the country.
  • Expertise in education policy, advocacy, leadership development, youth development, and workforce development areas.
  • Analysis of data for continuous improvement.
